Better for sure. Gotta get some gas and solid wire though. You’ll love it over flux core

I welded this little battery tray out of scrap steel.

I really want to get a chop saw for cuts, been using a 4.5" angle grinder with a cutoff wheel for all my cuts and I'm terrible at it.

Installed in the rear compartment, mounted to the rear seat bracket bolts.

Still need to clean up the wiring.

I used a Hobart Handler 190 with flux core wire .030. No gas yet.

I would use a Grinder over a chop saw any day

Whats the best way to cut a 45 degree angle into square tube? I cant seem to get a decent cut.

Should I only be cutting on face of the tube at a time?

    What size tube??

I just lay it out and cut

Then after 40 plus years I do these things without thinking

Will you be making a lot of cuts or just a few ??

I made a45Degree jig sized to fit over the tubing if I had lots of cuts

Clamp it on cut one side flip it over do the other side nice 45 degree cut

I was cutting a bunch of 1" square tubing that was probably 18ga or thinner. I was getting wonky cuts and having to fill bigger gaps than I wanted to with weld. Probably just need more time and practice.

First thing is to mark it all through way around.

I use a portable band saw, but a fixed one would be better.

If you're using a grinder definitely one face at a time

To Me anymore I use what is closer which more often then not is the grinder with the cutting disc.

Even though the Horizontal Band saw is only a few steps away

I m not sure the last time I used the Porta Band since the rig welding days ended .

I find the trick is let the disc cut using very little pressure .

What are you using to do the lay outs if the measurements are off on two pieces quite easy to get a 1/4" gap .

The important part is holding the over all dimensions on most jobs

Using the cardboard to mock up the steel pieces he’s going to cut out to design the bumper

    Money!

I'm definitely jealous of the winch plate base...looks like the rest will be easy!
