I would never shame a man for the length of his sword. The wenches seem to have enough of a penchant for that already!

That war paint would def be pretty intimidating in a WTF kinda way for sure.

I'm glad the pooch didn't get involved. I've seen what a dog like that can do to a person. No thanks.

As far as the time/day, that's actually a pretty common time. Its a myth that baddies largely sneak in at night. That's when all the people are home! Midday during the week is when you are at work, running errands, etc. His fault that citizen dickbag can't case a joint properly.

Dude that guy was crapping his pants 2 seconds after you told him you were going to kill him face paint and all.
Not a getting robbed story but a helping a female officer out . On my way to a morning mtb ride I was picking up my buddy. As I pull into his neighborhood I see a police officer wrestling with a guy on the ground . I stop and run over snatch the guy off and sweep the legs dropping him face first on the ground. I politely ask him to put his hand behind his head . He complied and spit out a fee teeth in the proess. Turns out that he was part of a three man crew that had kicked in the front door of a near by house . They locked the 8 and 10 year old kids in the closet and beat the mom up in the process of robbing them .

    War paint. Dig it.

In all honesty, nothing scares a crazy fucker more than a crazier fucker. You must've looked like a maniac with your face paint running at him full clip, carrying a sword.
Training or not, props to you for defending your family. :hattip:

I train and prepare, but nothing prepares you for when it actually happens and instinct kicks in.

Been robbed at gunpoint before but I was somewhere I probably shouldn't have been. This was nearly a decade ago, live and learn. Glad you and your family are ok OP.

Wow fellas. Thanks for all the well wishes and responses.

And thanks to those that have shared their stories. Still would like to hear more stories about how the good guys got the upper hand.

Also, I’ve been sitting on a permit that allows me to raise the height of my fence. Let’s just say my wife has made it very clear that it’s a priority now, 8 feet all the way around should be nice with a little lattice spike on the top.

It’s been a debate on whether the guy hopped our fence or went through the gate. Will never know. But I plan on locking the gate from now on while we are home and painting my face every morning when I plan on staying home with the family.

Maybe add a firearm safe in the kitchen as well, Who knows maybe bed bath and beyond don’t know if I’ll have enough time.

My old roommate, who was driving a tow truck at the time, pulls into the house after work one day and sees a black Honda Accord (like 1980’s) sitting in our driveway with three thuggish looking kids walking the perimeter of the house checking doors and windows. He pulls into the fuckin driveway and then maneuvers himself out of their way so the car has space to leave, he gets out and asks “Who are you guys?” And they stare at him. He freakin carries, so he puts his hand on his waist, and he tells them to get in their car and leave -_- I’m like dude you freakin saw them trying to break in our house and you intentionally gave them space to leave and didn’t pull your gun on them and didn’t call the cops.

That sword might not have been sharp, but a good swing would break an arm or collarbone no problem. He should feel lucky it was you and not the dog, no reasoning with an angry pooch

Depending on the state brandishing a firearm as a deterrent like that can be illegal. My hole of a state won't let you defend your property either. Threat to life or limb is all we can protect.

OP I almost didn't read the story because scumbag criminals usually get my blood boiling. Glad I did though because it was pretty humorous and the good guy won. Really dig the war paint too.

Curious what was going on in that guys head. Assumption is drugs, but why on earth would someones first response when breaking into a home be "grab that sword and shield."

At any rate, glad you were all unharmed. And thanks for sharing. Stuff like this is a good reminder that bad/strange things can happen to anyone.
