I am new here and looking for some help buying my second Tacoma. I sold my first one over a year ago and really want one for work again.

The first one had a clean Florida title but had five small incidents on the CarFax report. It was a 2011 Access Cab with the SR5 package. It had under 90k miles and I paid under $9k for it. It did have a cracked tail light. I drove this car and sold it with 30-40k more miles and made a small profit.

The next Tacoma I want would be a 4 door with Apple CarPlay. Is $15k a good budget for a newer model? I am gonna keep this one for a few years and really need some help.

    Thanks

You got a steal deal on the first truck!

For a newer truck $15k would be a down payment, or a truck with a quite a few miles on it used.
Not sure about your apple thing though if it comes in the older models 2015 and older, but keep looking!

Welcome to T. World and good luck!

    Welcome to the forum!

You can find one for 15k but the mileage will be fairly high. If that doesn’t bother you then go for it. You can browse the for sale sections here and possibly find what you’re looking for as well. But if you are looking for new then you’ll have to up your budget. Lots of information and resources around here to help you make your decision. Best of luck!

Thanks for the fast response. Are there any Tacoma years to avoid? Would you say that the Tacoma holds the best value for resale over other trucks? My idea was to find someone who was gonna sell to CarMax and offer a few hundred over their appraisal. How do you guys find a good deal?

Not sure about years. There is a graph somewhere here that shows issues like recalling and such for the years. Someone here might have a link.

The carfax idea is good but like with looking for a Taco that fits your need be persistent and don't buy the first thing.

I'm not sure how people find the deals other than just keep looking everywhere.

As far as mileage goes, 40-60k? I can travel with it and sell it with 200k and not loose any money (except normal routine maintenance).
