SC here, but looking forward to a long Father's Day weekend in WNC. Headed to the Snowbird for camping and trouting! Always a good time.

If you are planning on traveling on Hwy 9 you will need to find a different route. There was a mud slide that covered the road and according to the news it may take a couple of months to clean it up.

Yeah I seen that yesterday and the drone video is crazy. That's a lot of mud and no way 7-10 days like the one story I read wasit saying's. I was expecting to take 9 from Chimney Rock to My Mitchell but we will find another way. I'm more concerned if Chimney Rock State Park will be open in time.

I would call the park and ask them. I live about 45 minutes from it and never been up it.

    Havent heard of any problems.

Most of the heavy rain amounts were to the southern mountain counties.I am near maggie valley and there are no issues here or in Waynesville

Fished Big Snow Bird years ago, probably caught 30-40 trout that day.Very cool river with rocks the size of houses

    Nice set up.

I mostly use 4lb test and the big trout i have caught came in fine, just had to be careful bringing them in.

My buddy caught a 8lb rainbow and his line broke right after we netted him. There are some big trout out there.Davidson River has some huge trout too.If you fish the hatchery waters go on Friday morning. They stock it every Thursday night until around August

Whats up guys, Taking my lady on her 2nd ever camping trip in our RTT. We camped off of a FS road in Pisgah NF near cove creek the first time but I wanted to do something a little more civilized for her this time. has anyone parked their rig at Mt. Pisgah Campground? It not my style i'm more of a primitive camper but I want to get her hooked on camping through good experiences. Just wondered if it was a worth while place or if I should just cruise up and down FS roads again. Figured we would do frying pan tower and black balsam hikes while were out and about.

    Thanks for any input fellas/ladies

No hook ups,but I like the hemlock campground on the toe river.next to mount Mitchell and a little dirt road from Black Mtn campground to the parkway that goes to the summit..can have campers or tent,showers/restrooms,a couple swimming areas, and can take an inner tube over some easy rapids..

Ended up going to Mt.Pisgah Campground. Not ideal but it was an overall good experience! Plus new shoes
Falken 265/70/17 got about 3/4” from it. So far so good on these tires. Out the door from discount tire for $619 with 4 certificates.

We went back into the PNF today and drove Headwater, FS475B up from the Hatchery.

Then up the BRP, down 215 to Cold Spring Gap, FS4776. That intersects Wolf Mountain down to 1756 or Charley’s Creek Road.

All these trail names are from the OFF-ROAD TRAIL GUIDE app. I like the way that works and wonder if any of you all have other apps to recommend.

I’ve used that app and it doesn’t really tell me any trails. Unless I’ve got something messed up I’m the settings. Cool shots tho!

Thanks! Settings wise, make sure you open up the filters to show everything including USFS Roads, which is what we have most of around here.
