Dad of the year award goes to this man.

But anyways. back to the question. What is your price budget? if any? if you're looking for something decent. then Bilstein 5100s all around for shocks and depending if you want to add a steel bumper up front or not. OME 888/887/ or 886 springs to match up with the billies up front with either a full leaf pack HD/ or Light duty. also depending on if you will be loading up the back with goodies or towing. i'd go with the HD leaf pack. Also having a CMC (Cab mount Chop) to be able to clear the wheels and tires to prevent rubbing or keep to a minimum. 265's are stock sizes but either go up to 285's or 315's which will give you the beefy look. I forgot to mention that the bilstein 5100s' could give you about 2.5 inches in the front and about 2-2.25 inches in the rear. If you wanna go crazy, Get some King/ICON/ or Fox suspension. ADS is pretty good I hear too. these options all will achieve you 2/3 inches all while giving you a smoother Cadillac ride. But be prepared to spend about 4-5k on that to do it RIGHT. the 5100+HD dakar leafs should run you about 1700 or so. But its your wallet.. So pick your poison. :spending:

Edit: keep in mind when you go up in tire size, you will definitely lose MPG, but if you don't give a shit about that then its good. Also.. Re-Gearing to 4.88's is a must when maintaining drivability. Just something to consider when upping your tire size for obtaining the beefy look. I too, want the beefy look. But a lot of research is necessary to make sure you're doing it properly.

Did this setup require any cutting/trimming?

    $35k is a nice gift.

Why not let him fund his own mods?

He might chose the skinny tire route and fill the wheel wells with 33's and no lift or cutting required.

How are the St Maxx tires? Did you have a big drop in MPGs going to those? I want to get 255/85s but can't get over how heavy they are, like 15 pounds more than the 265/75 falkens.

I haven't seen a big difference. But it's getting more and more difficult to stay out of the gas anyway. This thing is so much more fun to drive than the old F350 with that 7.3 diesel!
