My 2017 TRD sport has 10,000 miles on it and since i have boughten the truck while using the wireless charger i have never seen the light turn green indicating that the phone is fully charged. i didnt think this was a big deal cause i know the wireless charging is SUPER SLOW!! i would drive for 45 minutes to work at get about 8-10% charge out of it.

Well today as i was driving and my phone was chrging i saw the 2 (green and orange) lights flash about 3 times and then it continued to stay orange.

Well the problem is now that it says that it is charging with the orange light and my phone has the charging lightning bolt on my phone but i put in on the charger with 97% and drove for an hour and when i took my phone off it was still at 97%

Does anyone else have any similar problems and if so what they did to fix it?

Most new phones are super slow to charge the last 10% or so by design, so there's a lot of variables. If you have the screen on or background apps using tons of battery it'll just keep it constant, never topping off. A case could interfere as well, or not putting it in the 'perfect' spot. I have a couple chargers that won't charge for crap if I don't find the 'sweet spot', nor will they charge with certain cases (S8 Active).

BTW, I don't have the truck wireless charger myself but I have seen a ton of similar complaints about it. I wanted one in my truck until I read all the complaints, sounds like it doesn't play well with some phones.

If I had My way I would Remove that switch and replace it with a dual USB switch or lightbar switch.

Mine wouldn’t work unless you had the phone in a certain spot. I ended up getting a Hondo mount and using a iottie wireless mount.

What kind of phone? Are you streaming music while you're charging also?

My Samsung S4 (old as hell) charges 25 - 35% during my 20 min commute. If it's at less that 10% it will be fully charged in an hour as long as I'm not using it during the charge time.

It may be more of a quirk with the phone than the charger. I've used mine with two phones; my newer LG charges much better than my older Moto did. I love this feature, but I do wish it was faster.

With no case on my iPhone 8 doesn’t gain any charge with the Qi. It’s more of a charge maintainer for my phone lol. I don’t use it anymore and I’ll soon be putting a scan gauge in there instead if I can see it well enough.

My S7 Edge charges fast.... so fast the phone gets hot and the light the OP was talking about starts blinking and my phone starts to complain. I pull my phone off the charging station and its pretty warm. Doesn't do it with AC on.
The Qi charger is fast - but as mentioned, its all about the phone.

I have the same problem. My s7 edge might go up a 2-5% with a 25 minute commute. If I run waze, 0%.
And I've also had the green/orange flash several times which is because of overheating. When that happens, you just need to let it cool down.

The wireless charging is pretty useless unless you aren't using your phone for streaming music, waze, android auto, etc etc. I've thought about opening it up to see what kind of coils it's using and maybe replacing it with samsung guts. Or maybe adding more coils so it's not so picky about placement.

IPhone X charges pretty fast with the Qi charger. No complaints. I even have a leather case on it.

I am not happy about the heat induced into my Samsung S6 and the lack of equivalent charge. I have had my truck 2 days and have stopped using the Qi. I don't think it is good for the phone battery.

Here's how I "fixed" mine! Gave the switch away and put in a front camera switch.

I gave up on mine. Even when placed in the perfect recommended spot, it'll lose connection occasionally, which causes the display to come on for a couple minutes, which kills the battery. Net effect was that even when it was working, the constant disconnections caused it to kill more battery than it charged.

I'm now looking at that spot as the future home of a nice HAM radio eventually.

I wouldn't really advise doing this unless you can somehow measure the frequency (and have a background in RF). Adding more coils is going to change the mutual inductance between the transmitter and receiver. Qi standards are frequency agile and at the frequencies used may not really matter too much but you could do a lot more harm than good.

Same here. My X charges just fine with a case on it.

How hot does the phone get? My S6 gets too hot. Not good for the battery at all.

No, what I mean is taking the existing stuff out and swapping it with an existing multi-coil setup.

This is the charger I use everyday and it has two coils. It's pretty flat so it should/maybe fit in there. https://www.amazon.com/Bestand-Alum...e=UTF8&qid=1529351345&sr=8-5&keywords=bestand

I understand that but I am trying to say I don't think its as easy as just swapping coils. Before the coil, there is most likely a tank circuit or some sort of matching circuit to tune the resonant frequency in addition to the coil inductance.

But it may not matter too much as the frequencies QI is working at is 140kHz so any changes in the coil pack would most likely need to be very large. I guess its a trial/error experiment.

Yeah, I'm hoping to reuse the existing stuff from a current charger since it accounts for all that. It should all be pulling 5v and current amperage "may" be ok. I'll have to see what else is on that circuit.
