The chick asked me if I was ok with 2200lbs. It’s one yard of garden mix. I just have Dakar’s in the back. Lucky me the landscaping place is only about 2 km away from home.

    I did 1,575lbs w/ Dakar mediums. BAD idea! I can't imagine another 625lbs.
Oh, don't y'all use kg's there? So it was 1,000kg?

Something like that. Most people here use lbs in their day to day lives. Just about everything here is from the states anyways so it’s just easier.

Yea I bought if off of CL. I was wondering about that. Def will not be towing using it. I think the guy I bought it off of had a canoe/kayak attachment. You can also do the bike rack in the front. I considered cutting it off but I figured what the hell:cool:

Wish I went with 78"! I didn't want to spend the extra money on Yakima so I went with a 72" Vantech.

I ended up getting the two bars and four feet (no locks) for $150 on CL.
I will add locks with matching keys to my wife's set, and I'll be golden!

Did you add the back up cord to be able to unlock it if the solenoid craps out in the locked position?

I didn't get the power lock one. I got the one that you can key yourself.

I installed a reverse-camera... pretty simple install. The camera/tail-gate handle unit was a direct bolt-in. The kit I got is a universal model and should not be used on newer trucks that are pre-wired (not sure what year the camera was an option). The kit I have is designed to work with most aftermarket head-units that have video input, and it doesn't have connectors that'd mate with the OEM wiring.

I used a step-drill to make holes in the bottom edge of the tailgate and long the rear edge of the bed. Neither are really all that visible. The camera taps into the reverse lamps for power, and it sends the signal along the video cable to trigger the display on the head-unit if needed. I just pulled a bit of the proper wires out of the loom under the bed near the drivers-side tail-light and tapped them, then bundled everything back up.

I ran the video cable from the head-unit to the driver's side kick-panel, under the door sill moulding following the main tail-light harness. It exits the cab under the driver's seat through the existing grommet, then I just strung it along the tail-light harness all the way back. There was 3-4' of extra video cable, so I just coiled it up and left it under the door sill moulding.

The camera itself provides reticle lines, but they can be disabled ... and should be for this application. The camera is aimed a bit downward so the camera's reticle is useless. Luckily, the Sony headunit option provides an overlay allowing you to adjust the line spacing and line width. I set mine for 6", 2' and 6'. I still need to disable the camera reticle ... you can see both sets enabled in the head-unit photo.

Overall, really pretty easy job ... scariest part was drilling holes in the tailgate and bed valance. Running and securing the wire wasn't too bad ... be a lot easier on a PreRunner/4x4 since you've got a LOT more ground clearance when working under the truck.

Why wouldn't this work w/ prewired? Mines prewired. Just curious to why you said that

Well, I guess technically it'd work, but they have an different kit that's designed for pre-wired trucks. The other kits are more plug-n-play.
