I just want to learn more about why people put these bumpers on their cars. Can somebody help me by adding to my list of reasons someone would put an aftermarket bumper on their truck?

    • looks
    • better mounting for accessories (winch, lights)
    • approach angle
    • protection for the rest of the vehicle in collisions with.... what exactly?
Thanks guys. I'm not trying to start a flame war here, just want more information about the uses of these bumpers.

Cut & broke off some stuff.
    Yes to all that.
Bounced it off tree at edge of a muddy sloped trail once. No damage to truck.

I'm thinking for my truck, if I end up actually ruining my bumper while froadin' then at that point I'd replace my bumper.

Nope. None of those reasons. It’s because we all need to be #EAF.:anonymous: @Mobtown Offroad is the most #EAF.

I bought my ARB so I have a place to put my beer when I’m working on the truck. Nothing more, nothing less.

He has a premium Harbor Freight tarp! It works as a sun shade, an A frame tent, ground sheet for working on the truck and you can rake leaves into it. What’s more expo than that?

Gave up hookers and blow not in that order. I have a standard rear bumper so the point was to spend money on something I didn't actually need. I need to find a reason I need a winch so I can get a front bumper.

That's too far from the front. That will stick to the plate bumper and you spend less of those suds calories looking for your drink.

To remove trees on trails an pull out jeeps. Find you a jumping tree an maybe nature will help speed the process up.

Yep all the reasons you listed then some, I've driven lots of rigs off a highlift via neutral drop or wrapping out a manual and dumping the man pedal to get out of some real shit places, something not all that possible with a plastic or thin factory bumper
