When I was getting my PPL, my flight instructor told me a few times:
"if you sit in that place, it makes you a pilot, and if you a pilot you fly the fucking plane to the last drop of gas, to the last foot off ground." That means concentration and hands on the thing.
I never wear seatbelts, never crushed and NEVER do anything else but drive then behind the wheel. Been doing it for over 30 years.
If you like the car to drive you, get an Uber or taxi. If not, that means YOU are in control 100% of the time without any sensors help. Or get off the road.

I pay $14 every 6 months for full glass replacement at $0 deductible on my 2018 taco. Totally worth not paying the $800 for OEM. I've been through two windshields on my work owned car in the last 4 months. Lots of rocks in Colorado.

Yes and only reason is to keep you in the seat for vertical movements. In a crash is not doing shit for you. Also in emergency safety procedure is to remove the seatbelt and ajar the door. Many died after impact for being stuck in the seatbelt or door not opening.

    Yeah, Danny.

I got nothin’. Do what you want.

By the way, I was an airline pilot for 20 years.

One of the biggest reasons I opted for the 16/17 instead of waiting for the new models. Tech will get you someway somehow! I wanted the features, but the fear of failure cost was more of a concern. Never would have thought a windshield would be the thing to incur it though!

    Any OH SHIT moments?
Long ago I was flying off Falcon Field in Mesa with my friend (his plane, me in the right seat) and engine caught on fire on take off at 400ft AGL. Made it back under MAYDAY procedure followed by all emergency vehicles there. Seatbelt off, door ajar, engine off, avionics on and "fly or die" mentality.

100% of commuters do NOT have the fly or die mentality. be nice if 50% of the folks out there actually were paying attention to the road and instrument cluster instead of their phone, the person in the car next to them, the radio, some hot woman bending over, breakdowns, accidents that are already out of the lane of traffic,.....

Safety features may be annoying, but as long as there are amateurs driving on the road I am all for them.

Those that are off road and ware not being distracted by 90% of the above are really only threatening themselves not my family and friends.
    :hattip:

So a new windshield cost how friggin much?? :D

You always have to pay attention to the hot girl bending over. You never know if a gust of wind might blow her dress up, or if her yoga pants might give

I’m a tech for Safelite and from personal experience the lift has nothing to do with recalibration. Also for anyone. Don’t let the dealer overcharge for an installation 9/10 times they will call us (Safelite) to go to the dealership and do the install because a lot of dealerships don’t have glass techs that are certified on the materials being used during the installation. Considering we input the windshield information with DOT, if they install without being certified they could be effed.

Is there any GOOD glass brand anymore? PPG used to be good.

    Safety features? Ha!

I drive a lot of other folks vehicles, there are plenty of vehicles on the road that have barely functioning brake systems. I don't how people drive some of the garbage that's out there on the road.

500$’s pretty steap. I replaced mine not that long ago. Safelight wanted 430$, local glass shop came in 300$ cash.
