I'm not particularly OCD, but I've noticed that the lines on my backup camera in my 2017 TRD sport are *not* centered with the truck. I know the camera itself isn't centered, but the digitally overlaid lines on the display are similarly off center.

What it boils down to is that when the lines on the display are aligned with my parking spot, my truck is actually about 6 inches to the right, rather than centered. Have you other 3rd gen owners noticed this? Is there some sort of realignment I can make?

Mine is the same way. I didn't notice until after my son use the truck. Got all over him for not treating the truck right. Now I know I need to apologize to him.

Yeah, it's just a quirk of the Tacomas. They're all like that. I think my buddy's 4Runner is the same way. Probably true for all Toyotas with off-center rear cameras.

If I were to make a guess, I'd wager that it's just a generic camera/software system that they slap onto a bunch of different vehicles and don't adjust/customize it for each individual model.

The problem starts with the camera not being centered right?

I'm just curious as to what you thought he could have done to make the lines change?

My backup camera was centered perfectly… that is until I went through a few car washes. Now it isn’t. I has to be adjustable somehow.

Mine is ok when I back up to hook on the trailer it is straight on every time.Same back up into the carport but still use my side mirrors a bit. Now the mirrors are the ones to be aware of as they look closer than what they are.

I’ve never formed a habit of using the line overlays. I use the side view mirrors for that. Old habits die hard perhaps. I’ve found the rear camera perfect for hitching up a trailer and judging distance in the rear though.

Mine is off too and it’s freaking annoying, I don’t typically use it much but it bothers my OCD a lot. I was going to try and align it but I’ll do that when I buy a electric lock kit. 09185C39-551B-4C4B-83A3-9ACC07CCA778.jpg

Old thread, but nothing has changed with my 2023 Tacoma. I use the camera to get close hitching up and then just watch the ball and trailer hitch.
