I've seen TWE wreck a whole lotta bikes, forks, tires, people, etc. Makes for a good proving ground whatever the part.

    I'm kinda biased...
But I've ridden both, and have had several Devinci bikes. LOVE all of them, they're overbuilt and beefy, handle awesome, and are really more built toward the fun part (downhill) of the ride.
I've had the Spartan, Troy, and Marshall. They're all rowdy, and they all pedal really well for their intended purpose. But point them down, and the only thing holding you back is your own skill.

Yeah, I have a Devinci Wilson DH bike so I know what you mean. That thing is indestructible!

Really digging the Marshall and one of the local bike shops both sells and demos them. Pretty hard to find a place that does that with Devinci. Spot being a direct to consumer brand makes demoing it beforehand near impossible. Only real chance I would have is on their 2018 demo tour at either Crested Butte or Outerbike in Moab which makes me lean towards Devinci.

I ride a 18 Troy 90% of the time, and got the Marshall as a screwing around on light trails, ride around town, backcountry epics kinda rig. Took it out on a ride and got into some stuff I thought would be out of its league, and I was honestly really surprised. It's slack (66*) and low, and with a capable fork, that rising rate rear ate through some serious chunk and steep shit. It climbs fast, handles quick, and grips for days. I almost questioned if I needed the Troy, but then I got out on it the next day...
3 bike quiver. DH, AM, and whatever you wanna call the Marshall (downcountry?).

Ha! I busted out "downcountry" on a friend the other day and he looked at me like I was smokin' crack...

Just spent the last hour diving in to Spot and Devinci offerings. Sounds like Spot owns the ups, and Devinci owns the downs from all the reviews I've read. When I get back from vacation, I'm gonna have to sneak out to park city and demo a Marshall.

This whole escapade started as looking at a 2013 Lefty as a townie bike, and now I'm yet again looking at 4K+ full sus bikes.

On a separate note: When I rode the FTB Enduro a few weekends ago, a racer / mayoral candidate for Ely was doing the expert category on this monster! 51 pound 4.5inch tire monster truck. Pedalled 33 miles and 5700 feet with it. When he got to the bottom of the last stage, he decided he hadn't had enough and pedaled 1200 feet back up to the top and hit the "Whorehouse" trail a second time!

Yup. But seeing a picture of one, and riding it around a parking lot are 2 entirely different experiences.

    Zero regrets.

I'm looking for ideas on how to mount my thru axle mount more securely but not permanent to the bed. I have considered replacing the wood with a bar of aluminum that I can use to bolt through with the bed mount bolts. I have considered mounting it to the aluminum rail at the front of the bed. Any good idea fairies out there?

I want to be able to close my tailgate. I have to angle the bike slightly now. I guess I want to have my cake and eat it too. Plus I am looking at a Softopper, so I guess I need to keep the mount close to the tailgate to make it easier to get the bike in and out (and I need a dropper post!!) To the local metal shop I go!

Yeah, that is something I am considering too......a soft topper. I believe I saw someone with one on and a dakine tailgate pad. So they had the bike hanging on the tailgate securely and covered with a soft topper, and a last added bonus of not having to always remove the front wheel.

This is an old pic but with my old 2@er NorCal this was my setup. I have a transition now and still do it this way. Secure and safe. 30sec to put a tire back on is fine if I get the added security.

27+, with 2.8" HR2/Rekon. I tried 29" on a Spec Enduro, didn't fit me right. I'm barely 5'9". The plus rides smoother and has better damping effect, but are slower to get moving. But once they roll, they are super fun and lively.

Also looking forward to being able to ride it in the winter, I'll just get some fat 3.5s.

Love my 4.8" rubbered fat bike year round, but it does take a little effort to get rolling. Once they do though...

I think you may have sold me on the Marshall. Now let me just "donate" a kidney, and off to the LBS!
