As promised... update on the saga of Suki. Vet visit went well today. The vet that had been treating her was doing a surgery (supposed to be his day off) so we saw one of the other vets there who we really like. She said staples were definitely ready to come out so now they’re gone and the incision looks really good and I almost feel like I can pick her up without feeling like her belly is going to open up. Her eating is fair and I tried another type of food that they have. The vet is going to call us tomorrow to talk about follow up treatment. My guess is we’re going to try to eliminate things that can possible be contributing causes but they said it’s usually triggered by a food allergy. If symptoms flare up we have to start steroids and then some type of hypoallergenic food. Time will tell on that. Mama come home tomorrow so that’ll lift her spirits a bit. I already know how it’s going to go. She’s going to give my wife the screw you treatment and act really clingy with me but by Monday she’ll be back to being mamas girl.
Ultimately a positive day with an optimistic outlook- fingers crossed!!! Thanks again everyone for reaching out and showing you’re support. It certainly helped all of us get through this ordeal.

That is really good to hear. Her incision does look good. I hope she continues to do better. Isn’t it funny how they give you the “treatment” for a few days when you go away.
I’ll continue to be thinking about her and wishing her well. I feel like I almost know your kitty. :)

Been following Suki too. Glad she's pulling through:) What food are they giving you? Is it a special diet for her condition? Can she eat dry stuff yet? We have been getting our Domino this Halo food and it's really good food. A little pricy but worth it. They have this oceanfish food "for sensitive stomachs" and it's the one he holds down better than anything else we fed him. And he is healthier for it. I'm hoping Suki can benefit from this stuff too. Domino just gobbles this stuff up even sans any teeth.

Thank you all and hope you didn’t loose too much sleep and certainly appreciate the sentiment. These scenarios make us just that more appreciative of the time we have with these little guys. They make it so easy to love them but some hectic days can cause us to ignore them occasionally. For some reason Suki is just one of those cats- once in a lifetime type. She really makes an impression on people. She’s like a celebrity at the vets office. Maybe they just know that she’s the reason they’re getting a paycheck.
@Taco Buggy we sure appreciate you thinking of her and you never know there my be a chance encounter someday since we’re at least in the same state

Right now it’s science diet ID and AD wet foods. She’s just ok with them and eats very little of it. The dry food she eats silence diet metabolic and she eats pretty well with this. The ID and AD were prescribed as a result of the surgery as it’s highly digestible and produces little waste. If she has a reoccurrence then there was a couple of formulas the vet mention. It has something to do with the proteins in the food and how cats process the proteins. I’m just hoping there’s no flare up and we can just go back to our normal routine. I will definitely look into that food and appreciate the suggestion. Hope you kitty is doing well being on that food. When we care so much about these guys it’s hard to even consider putting cost above their well being.
