I just purchased a new 2017 Tacoma XSP, I have previously owned Dodge, Chevy, Ford and Nissan pickups. This is my first Toyota vehicle. I bought it based on resale and quality reviews.
I had considered the Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon and the Nissan Frontier. I now wish I had spent more time in my research and test drove them all more. Here is my Pro list and Con list of my new Toyota:
    Pros: Quality, Ride, Comfort, Appearance.
Cons: Lack of Power/engine, Price vs Options, Satellite Radio reception.

I think the Toyota engine is seriously lacking in power, needs more bottom end torque. If you compare the options or standard equipment of the other makes against Toyota you will get more for your money with the other manufacturers. The Satellite radio keeps loosing reception, it needs a more powerful receiver/antenna - all my other vehicles rarely dropped their signals.

Overall, I have only 1700 miles on it currently. But I would say it does live up to the quality of the vehicle and the ride is like a car. Am VERY disappointed in the performance - you have to put a lot of foot into it to get it moving.

you could add a super charger. Also i promise you that you will get more money for you Tacoma in 10 years than any of those other brands you named.

Also enjoy the reliability of your truck for the next 10 years!

If you want tech in your ride then go with a Honda Civic.

Today I installed a remote start system in my Tacoma, it was from 12Volt Solutions. Took about 2 hours to install, I have a key start system. It is a pricey system, but a simple system to install. Would highly recommend using the video they have on YouTube, it is very detailed and easy to follow. Works great.
