    Hi all,

I was reading the stickied thread about not putting HID's into halogen housings.

I believe this was the case with 1st and 2nd gen taco's but now the 3rd gen housing are ok.

I have a 2018 3rd gen tacoma SR5 with halogen headlights. I want to install HIDs , do I have to retrofit them or can I use my stock halogen housing ?

Also, what is the difference of LED headlights vs HID headlights? I am going for that 5000-6000K white-blue look.

    Thank you!

The issues with putting HIDs in a halogen reflector are not the same as a halogen projector. The projectors have glare shields to clean up glare compared to the reflectors.

LEDs are a bidirectional light source vs HID being an omnidirectional light source. HIDs are also significantly more powerful than even the best LEDs. However you will have better results with a HID projector than using a halogen projector.
