    However, if I was in the market today, I would look at the new KM3s. They look real good and have very positive reviews.

    Good eye. Yes. That was the most I was willing to spend for a cooler. If you condition it before the trip the ice lasts longer. I'm going to experiment with dry ice on our next trip.

    I personally don't have experience with dry ice in a cooler. However, I was thinking about using some for a cooler on a weeklong float trip a few years back (a few of the men in my family do one annually). Speaking with my cousin about it, he had tried it before. Said that as the dry ice 'melts' and changes to gas, it builds up pressure in the cooler and forces/pops the lid open. Not sure if one could bungee the lid closed, or if pressures might cause some harm to the cooler or personnel though.

    Just thought I would throw that out there.

    Don't let that stop you from your experiments though, as YMMV.
