Do you have a grab handle on your A-pillar? It’s my understanding that 3rd gen Tacomas don’t have these but I admit I haven’t studied them too closely.

No grab handle in there 2017, but there is a bolt hold the cover on. I was wondering if it could mount here.

I ordered the parts today and hopefully it works. If not, I also ordered the RAM ball mount for the GoPro mount on the windshield. I'll post pics when I install it.

You just need to know the thread count on that bolt, thats really the only variable. If its the same then your golden.

Does yours come through the handle or out the side through the rubber wipe?

Does the side curtain airbag pop directly out of the A-pillar, or does it work like every other side curtain airbag?

Thanks for that mate, I already knew the answer but two trolls decided to drop into the thread today and so I asked them those questions.

I love this mod. I wish I had stumbled across it earlier. The socket head cap screw (the bolt) was not easy to find, as others have mentioned here. I went to Fastenal and they actually gave me two of them for free. I used the 50MM bolt but I couldn't get it to bite with two nuts and a washer on it, so I just went with one nut. It doesn't seem to be going anywhere yet. The RAM mount I chose has the x-grip and the single long arm. I got it from a motorcycle store in Halifax. I had to order the ball that the cap screw goes through off Amazon. I've seen some people on this thread have used the "double jointed" articulated RAM mount that would let you move your device further away from the steering wheel. That might be a good idea. I hit mine once when going for the blinker but now I've got used to it and I never hit it. The X-grip holds my phone or GPS unit firmly and I'm not worried about it falling off. I thought to myself if motorcyclists trust them, I can trust them.

Again, I highly recommend this mod. I will be adding a power cable to it this week so I can charge my devices without running cables across my dashboard.
