Unlike the Lambo v10, a Toyota v12 has available parts and easily accessible documentation and support.

Parts for the crown are plentiful but not in America. The engine was designed in the same vein as the land cruiser engines though, not super powerful but extremely reliable, so much so that an entire bank of cylinders could fail in the crown and it would run without vibration.

Jeez that's a lot of money, probably costs even more to get it working. Lambo parts ARE NOT cheap, as you can imagine.

It's a fascinating engine. It's much cheaper to pay a Taiwaneese exporter to shove the front clips of two Toyota Crowns/Centuries into a shipping container and shipping it into the country than to buy a single Lamborghini engine block.

Nor is anything having to do with a Toyota Crown, it is the ultimate in personal comfort and sensibility, and as such you need to be a wealthy Japanese business man to afford one. Remember lots of folks there don't even bother with car ownership at all let alone expensive ones.

If you want cheap and reliable and easy to get parts you get a 4age
If you want power and style point you get a lambo motor

Is it wrong that I want to make a side hobby out of using different methods to blow 3VZ-E engines so I can rid the world of one of Toyota few mistakes.

150HP 3.0L V6, the only single overhead cam V6 Toyota ever made, exhaust header and head design were so poor it reliably blew the headgasket on one cylinder (#6) regularly. So much so that Toyota issued a free headgasket replacement for all vehicles with one, and went so far as to replace the entire engine no questions asked if the HG failure caused other damages. And for all that it still ran poorly because Toyota retarded the ignition for emissions purposes (they run better with an extra 10-12 degrees of advance by slipping the distributor). Iron man Ivan Stewart raced a 3VZ-E that made 1100HP once, but that didn't use a typical Toyota injection system and was somewhere around 12:1 compression with a massive turbo. It was a stronger block made especially for him and different heads made by an american company for them. The 3VZ-E was the worst in reliability and the worst performer of the 80-90s V6s. Even the carbureted version of Nissan's VG30 was better.

Good thing they addressed pretty much all of that with the 5vzfe

Interesting. Strange to hear about such a bad quality Toyota engine.

the 3vz-e was junk. the 3vz-fe was awesome... the 5vz is basically the 3vz-fe heads with punched out cylinders.... the 3vz-fe cams fit in 5vz heads..

If you ever happen to own a 3.0 truck though.. the 5vz will bolt in place and make the thing 20 times more reliable

It was a turd, my I4 makes the same power stock and has 3lb less torque at HP peak but more down low (where you typically use it). But imagine for a second that you own a 2nd gen 4Runner (heavier than a taco) and you have a common configuration of V6, auto, 4wd (with turd level hydraulic t case that steals 20-25HP). Can you imagine how disappointing that would be, it's like the 3rd gen auto haha
