My daughter and I have always been close. I think hunting had a lot to do with that. She is home for the summer before starting med school. We went for a run this morning and a little mountain biking this afternoon. We have a lot in common, but I think it's our shared love for hunting that drives everything else.

Dads need to make time for their kids. Even their daughters.

She just came in and said she wants to go ride motorcycles after supper. A Dads job is never done. :)

I've done some antelope hunting with my .243. I sold the gun recently just because I never shoot my guns anymore. I've made the swap over to bow hunting because #1 it's cheaper, #2 more fun, and #3 hunting season is a lot longer.

When pulling the trigger costs $1.50-$2.50 each time it's really not fun to shoot anymore lol.

I have a 30-06 I've fallen in love with and that's my only long rifle now. .243 is a good caliber. Especially for newer hunters.

All but one of my deer have been 243 victims (1 crossbow) and that's dozens of deer btw and half as many coyote. My most recent deer. 16" wide 6 pt. I didn't wanna shoot him but the longer I looked at him the bigger he got right until he hit the ground, then he shrunk just a little but dang he is tasty.20180622_060457.jpg 20171206_070412.jpg

Just killed my first non 243 yote (I was about to leave my sister's house and this guy was running across the yard and stopped at about 90 yards. I was just planning on scaring him off but accidently hit where I was aiming.
A few follow up shots at closer range were require to finish him) yes it was just more than dark when he was shot and fire balls filled the air.IMG_8766.jpg

I’ve only been hunting with my Dad, in SC. He hunts with clubs in the lower part of the state, where running dogs with shotguns is common. I’ve never paid full club dues, only member guest. Only members are allowed to still hunt so I’ve never been allowed to hunt with it. I’ve taken a few with my Binelli Super Black Eagle knockoff Stoeger 2000. I bought it new in 1999 but have never put the crosshairs on anything but paper :anonymous:

I am. I’m stationed MCBH, by way of WA and SC :)

I was stationed in Japan before here, so I haven’t even shot it in 5-6 years :-(

    It’s been oiled, no worries

Living in Nebraska, hunted multi deer every year. and antelope. Did Elk hunting once a few years back with a bow and that was absolutely awesome. But i always depended on others with a truck. now that i have one there will be more exploring

I get more torqued losing a $12 arrow. Ammo prices have come down quite a bit.

    I’ll shoot more than $12.00 before I’ll lose a $12 arrow LOL.

Luckily I’ve only lost a broadhead in the last two years. No arrows in 3 years.
However I maybe get two shots at a deer a year, I think you do more hunting than me.

I probably do burn up a lot of money on ammo when I shoot, I dont shoot as much as I used to. I did pick up 3-550rd .22 ammo box for $24.99 ea. which is the lowest Ive seen it here in a long while and an acceptable price for me.

Dropped this guy right at 250 yards... high should hit slightly quartering, didnt pass through and he was still kicking a bit when i got down to him, i think i only got 1 lung and obviously a good bit of nervous system damage. you can see the entry hole in this pic, very glad he did run anywhere because i would have never found him
