Plugs

I know there is alot of discussion and opinions on spark plugs...brand..when to change, etc.

I have a 2013 Tacoma with the 2.7 L and was looking at changing plugs. I have 62k on the miles on it. I know its really not time for a change, but was looking at doing soon along with a drain and fill on the ATF.

What brand plugs would be a good replacement? Not sure if I have the Denso's, but was looking at the NGK 4904 ILFR6T-11

Thoughts and opinions?

 

I have the older version of your engine and it loves the V-Power plug, this engine doesn't demand a fancy plug and isn't hard on plugs either.

These would work well or you could get the OEM densos from a dealer and those will be great too, if you use NGK don't put antisieze on them the densos I forget if you need to put antisieze on or not.

I used the recommended Denso SK20HR11 iridiums, they are working great:

60k miles is a good mileage for the first auto trans drain & fill. I did drain & fills at 60k and 90k, then at 120k I pulled the pan and replaced the filter (screen). Very little buildup on the magnets, everything looked great. Going forward I will do drain & fill every 30k, never pulling the pan again.

But I am curious, why are you changing the plugs so early?

no particular reason for the plug change; the truck is running fine. First I need to change plugs on my daughter's Jeep Cherokee ( 16 in the Hemi ) and my son's Frontier pickup, so mine will be last in line. I will get the drain and fill done this weekly hopefully.
