I'm getting ready to run a trigger wire from a toggle switch in my overhead console area (see photo) through the headliner, down the driver's A pillar and to the grommet in the firewall to tie into a relay in the engine bay. This switch will trigger the relay to power LED reverse lights. I realize I can trigger them off of the reverse lights, but I want to independently control them so I can decide when to turn them on/off. They are more for lighting the rear of the truck in a situation like hitching up a trailer at night, and less for seeing when I'm just reversing all the time, hence wanting to be able to control them from a switch. I've pulled apart the overhead console and removed the driver's A pillar cover but I'm just looking to see if people have any advice on the best route to fish the wires as to be out of sight and clean looking without being a major pain in the ass to do. Any experience with this, chime in!IMG_6459.jpg

    I do have experience.
In the A Pillar, remember to run the wires behind the air bag, as in make sure that if the air bag deploys the wires are not going to prevent it from doing its job. I would either tuck them up underneath where the headliner meets the windshield or fish them from behind the overhead console over to the drivers door. You can remove the seal that fills in the gap between the door frame and the headliner by just pulling it away and pealing it back as far around the door frame as you need. It just pressed back in place.
Running back pop off all of the plastic pieces that cover the bottom of the door frames. I would install your relays and make your splices into power and ground under the drivers side Dash to the left of the pedals and wire tie it out of the way neatly.

Any specific questions, let me know.

Alright, thanks for the advice. I've got a blue seas aux fuse box setup in the engine bay so that's where I'll run my 12v fused power, ground, and relay from. I've already popped some wires through the grommet in the firewall so getting the additional wire through will be cake. Does it look clean just tucking the wire under the headliner? Or should I try to fish the wire through the whole way?

You likely can tuck and fish the whole way without removing anything. I mounted to the go pro mount and ran all the wires under the lip of the headliner, down the a-pillar and under the dash with a simple panel tool as a shimmy.

It depends how much wiring you are running. Also, sometimes the adhesive for the windshield gets squished back into the vehicle during installation at the factory and it ends up glueing the edge of the headliner along the metal lip the windshield sits in. This could prevent you from tucking wires up under there. If thats not the case then see what you can tuck up in there and if it decides to stay you're good to go.

I'm just running one 18awg wire from the switch to trigger the relay, so it's not a lot. I've got some time today so I'll probably take a crack at it this afternoon. I'll post an update once I tackle it.
