Well I'm new to the Forum but have been lurking for about a year now, thought I'd start with a little background on my addiction. My love for Toyota's started when I was 15, when I got my first Toyota. She was a 1990 Extra cab Pickup 3.0 V6 5 speed 4x4 with a quarter million miles, bobbed bed and welded front diff.

I drove her throughout highschool as a daily and a wheeler. Senior year of highschool me and a buddy did a SAS on it using basically everything from the Trailgear catalog.

Drove it like that till I moved to college and parked it in the barn at my Grandarents.
Got a car for college 1987 Mercedes 300D on 17" staggered AMG wheels

Now that I had a daily I could turn the Toyota into a full time wheeling rig. The 1st rebuild commenced. Lowered it 3" front and rear 39.5" iroks, Mercedes OM617 swap, Duals and many other things I'm sure.

Traded the 39.5's on 15x12 aluminum wheels for 44" TSL's on 15x14 Bart Super truckers. Wheeled it some like that.

Moved away again so once again it got parked at the Farm this time the other Grandparents. Also somewhere traded the 300D for a 1996 F250 4x4 7.3 PSD w/5speed

Finally brought it to the new town stored it at a Friends house as I was living in an apartment. Yes it was almost as low as a 1st gen tacoma on a 3" toytech lift and 285's.

The mountains were farther away than back at home, and not wanting to trailer it everywhere caused rebuild #3 to happened. Ditched the bobbed bed and 44's for some 37" mastercraft MXT's (awesome tire for cheap).

Started to try and paint it as well. Wheeled it like that till February 2017 when I blew rings out of it on the highway and lost all compression. Parted it out saying a sad goodbye to a good friend of 8 years.

Which Brings us to July of 2017 when I picked up my first Tacoma!
2007 Double Cab Long Bed TRD Sport Package with a snug top canopy? (If anyone can identify my top that would be cool). Couldnt wait to get it dirty and take it camping!

Then sometime in April a friend of mine aproached me with a craigslist ad for a set of 40" goodyear MTR's with an evil grin on his face, so I took the bait and sold him my 37's and bought the 40's.
Here is where the build kinda starts off, I got the tires and found a set of old school Eagle Alloy Wheels that have -25mm offset to keep the tires off the UCA's. I polished the wheels up and played around a little till I got them mounted.

Then I got them mounted up and mounted on the rig. Looks awesome but lots of clearancing to be done still.

Made a tool to cut the fenders for the 37's made keeping the process very repeatable and so much easier.

Also scrapped my rusty stock bed supports after I cut the fenders since they were too short now. Made these out of 1/8" aluminum turned out pretty good I think.

Can't argue with that. The creature comforts can make all the difference especially if it isn't just a weekend toy and you want to do some road trips with it.

Cool build. I’ve done several cmc’s but not a relocate yet. What did you have to rehear to for the 40’s. Hell I’d just like 34’s but a bit Leary of it rowing a micro camper

From what I can tell the battery tray and washer bottle areas will need to be massaged a little as well.

Finally getting around to a long over due update. Summer is always such a busy time with lots going on.
I upgraded the headlight housings with some $90 ones off Amazon. Not these ones exactly but the ones I got are out of stock these are the clossest I found.
    https://www.amazon.com/AJP-Distribu...oyota+tacoma+black+headlights+clear+reflector
Made it look like a whole new rig!

Also added 315/75R16 Goodyear Duratracs on my summer wheels and added the black between the door pilars like a 3rd gen.

More updates to come including DIY 1" body lift and tubbing for the 40's. I have already started tubbing the passenger side firewall and have got most of the body lift parts finished. I will leave you with this. 40" tall tire at full bump with only 2" taken out of the flares. Also I might actually finish the OBA setup. Stay tuned!

I’d like to see some pics of the body mount from inside the cab. Did you simply just drill a new hole when you relocated it back some? This mod is next for me so I can stuff some tiny 37s under my regular cab with minimal lift.

Not the best pic but ill take more before I finish the tub. I moved my body mount bolt 4.25" back from stock. Little overkill but itll never be in the way again!
Front hole is the factory hole, well half of it. second hole is my new mount hole. The body is multilayered there so i just holesawed enough to get the washer and a socket through. I think theres still 2-3 more layers of sheet metal before the body mount. so far its holding up good! might add a 14ga plate to the underside when I install the body lift just for piece of mind but im not real worried. hope this helps ill try to get better and more pics soon.

That works. Thanks for the pics. And holy shit did you tub the fuck out of that firewall. Mine is getting 37s for now, then 40s when i SAS it next year. That will let me move the axle centerline forward some to get it out of the firewall. I will still have to tub it to fit the 37s, but hopefully not as much, lol. Nice work.

Haha yea I ran out of firewall to cut out. For 37's all I did was the body mount relocate and cut the pinch weld off and pound the firewall back. Still rubbed some but not terrible. body mount is in the way of having fun.
