Increase A/C performance

AC temp is also dependent on ambient temp..

 

Having just moved from GA, it’s mostly a hot-ass weather issue.

The best way to combat it, is park in the shade as best as you can or in garage if you have one. Makes a massive difference. Open up ALL your windows and let the outside air in even if just for 30 seconds. And crank everything to max AC. It’s the only way.

People say the AC is good on these trucks and it might be true but I’ll tell you my 3rd gen 4runner would freeze your ass out in roughly 60 seconds even after having sat in the sun all day. My 2nd gen Tacoma will not do that unless it’s in the shade and I do what I said above.

But my 4runner was white and my truck is pyrite so that doesn’t help either.

 

My truck is white as well, I will be adding that aux fan as I've read that it will help with cooling it down in the beginning.

 

At 199,000 mile's I don't think that matters anymore...haha.
And they didn't say, so I presume mid 40s?

 

Here's an interesting TSB.

Looks like they're adding the condenser fan for Mexico spec trucks and then operating it based on refrigerant pressures.
They also add quite a bit of sealing to the core support as well to help prevent hot air from sneaking around.

parts ordered and received.

These are 1 thru 4 in the diagram. They were pretty cheap. So, I'm starting with these first.
When CSF get's their shizzle together on their radiator upgrade; I'll do the other seals 5,6, and 7 along with.
I'll be adding a condenser fan as well. But, I need to look into something that'll work along with the supercharger heat exchanger.

 

Why only 2015?

 

Based on the date of the TSB. I'd imagine it has a lot to do with Toyota only being concerned with trucks still under the 3/36.

I think we can learn enough from the TSB to effectively do the same mods to just about any second gen Taco tho. Add a condenser fan and seal up the core support area as well as possible.

 

My condenser fan doesn’t seem to do too much, I’m curious to hear reports of how the Toyota one works

Thanks for posting this. I'm strongly considering this route as my A/C isn't that great at idle / offroad / stop & go traffic. Expecting 100 degree days here in Central Texas with high humidity for the next week or more

 

Nano-Ceramic tint.... trust me. It blocks 95%+ of heat entering vehicle. Put like 35% or lighter all the way around and it'll make the world of a difference with the AC.

Is it worth getting the Toyota brand Condenser fan vs aftermarket? Any idea what the Toyota one costs?

 

for a test, I bet some duct tape would prove if those seals would work or not

I might try some on mine since its getting warmer here and the parking lot at work has no shade

 

Gorilla tape would last a lot longer that duct tape.

OP didn't say where in the state he was living.

OP may have family or other reasons why picking up and moving isn't an option.
