Dropped the truck off to get caged while I’m overseas. Rode the KTM back, not a bad day at all! Hit the ramp while I was there...I think I’m gunna get into rock crawling lol

Welp, long story short I ended up just ordering new UCA's from Camburg. Props to camburg for throwing in free uniballs when I ordered bare bone arms. Got one side of the truck done (replaced UCAs and lower bolts). Took off the lower uniball, popped out the snap ring, gave it a couple love taps from a dead blow and it laughed at me. I gave the actual uniball a good looksie, no pitting, still solid in the cup, gave it a mean glare and put it back on the truck with a new bolt. Not gonna fuck around trying to get it out and end up in the same boat as the UCAs. Now to do the other side and see about putting a new inner boot on the CV

 

FYI I did everything I could to my old Uniballs/UCAs. 12 ton press, 2 cans of Kroil, 20 ton press at BAMF, press kit, torch on the cup, all of that mixed a couple ways, Uniball is firmly stuck in place. Camburg thinks the uniball cup might have tilted ever so slightly on the way out and I basically hammered it in place. I did the same above trying to get it back into place and it did nothing. I never measured it but just eye fucking it I think I see a slight degree of tilt to the cup so that must be the case. Buddy of mine at work says he can prob get it out in the shop press (I'm guessing 50ton or 100ton) but at that point its either coming out or the arms are coming off lol. I opted to just order new uppers from Camburg and call it a day.

 

if it takes more than a 20 ton the actual cup might start deforming because it is taking the force on the lower side.

another option would be try cutting through it (like in half) with something. thatd let let the outer race have somewhere to release pressure into

 

Yeah like I said I bought new ones lol. This was my thinking as well, anything more than 20 tons and it'll probably bend/break/tweak something and then I'd be ordering new ones. I'll hand the old ones over to my buddy and tell him to Let 'er rip tater chip, and if he gets them out without damage, cool beans, I'll have a spare set of arms I can put new Uniballs in for spares when the current ones start rusting up or need replacement

 

i saw that, just figured for the same thinking as spares

 

It's funny, a different buddy in the same shop hit me up about pressing out those uniballs, I told him someone else already told me he'd do it and dude said the same thing, It'll either press em out...or good thing I bought new ones haha

 

All that on the uppers, i thought it was the lowers you had an issue with.
Not making me fell good about mine.hopefully yours are a rare case.

 

Meh, my "rare case" was just neglect for the most part. To much Pismo salt water, not enough hose.

 

That saltwater is nasty.

 

Antisieze the cups before u put the ballz in....never go dry lol
