I have a Magnaflow and trimmed the tube around the axle and love it. Plus it doesnt spew exhaust dirt up the lower panel being trimmed. So cleaner and sounds better.

Wouldn't buy a kit exhaust system and just go to a muffler guy to do the work

I had a Flowmaster Super 44 installed a few months ago.

It's was something that I'm very glad I did and has enhanced my enjoyment of the truck a great deal.

Minimal expense (1/3 what I see folks paying for bolt on kits). Took the shop about an hour while I waited.

Also included a new exhaust tip that was welded on and everything underneath painted ninja black to match the muffler.

    Clean install and sounds great.

Nice little growl when I start it....nice grumble at low speeds.....falls off when engine is cruising and not accelerating.

Nice sound from inside the cabin. Don't have to crank music to defeat.

    Zero regrets.

That where that subjectivity comes into play. One man's noise is another man's singing angel.

Sorry, I hate to break it to you, but a muffler didn't give you +mpg.

I have the Magnaflow 6" Round by 18" Body Length and 24" end to end.
    Magnaflow #12645
It sounds like the TRD just not as loud. It's pretty quiet when idle, but you can hear it when you jump on it. The only reason I bought a muffler was because I got a TRD CAI as a gift and it made to much noise lol.
The best thing to do would be to go to some meets and listen/ask to what people have.

Honestly stock sounds good, I just wish I could hear her a bit more.

Most aftermarket stuff I've seen sounds like "rice power"

2nd gen? It sounds good to me, hearing her roar past 3,000 rpm always sounds good.

Not as good as Grandpa's 96 GMC Sierra v8 but it doesn't sound like garbage either.

Now my mom's new Civic 4 cylinder turbo? That sounds like ass.

Last night we were waiting at a light to turn left. We heard a horrendous sound, not unlike a Subaru with exhaust. What was it? A Tacoma, second generation, turning right and passing next to us with some kind of chrome tipped dual exhaust exiting the rear under the bumper.

Like they say, "there is no accounting for taste".
