Here is a quick list of movies that @Wju may enjoy. I've seen all and own copies of 95%; I've tried to stay away from the 2000-present as per interpretation of @CaptAmerica's OP, although some recommendations are from the past fifteen or so years. Several of the movies that other people have posted are outstanding as well, like (but not limited to) Duel, Dune, Blazing Saddles, Monty Python and The Holy Grail, Max Max, and a Fist Full of Dollars. On a related note, several of these movies are part of trilogies or series, like Max Max and A Man With No Name. IMHO, it's generally worth watching the entire series even if one of the series's movies isn't quite on par with the others.

@Wju, hopefully you find this list interesting and enjoy these movie recommendations. The vast majority have, in past and present, significant impact on culture, cinema and filmmaking, the participating actors/actresses, and of course, internet memes and forum posts. Others are just damn good. I also have a shorter list of foreign movies that were not released in North America that you may find interesting as well.

The car chase in Ronin is considered a rival to the one in Bullitt, which is widely viewed as the best car chase scene in cinema history.

By the replies from @Wju i'd have to guess he's of a certain age that was too late for a lot of the movies I grew up watching. John Belushi, John Candy, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Gene Wilder were all actors I grew up watching.

I'll throw a couple on the pile:

    Fletch
    Fletch 2
    Vacation
    Xmas Vacation
    Throw Mama From the Train
    Planes, Trains and Automobiles
    Trading places (1983)
See no Evil, Hear no Evil
    Brewster's Millions
    Gung-Ho!
    Big Trouble in Little China
    Airplane (1, but 2 wasn't horrible)
    The 'Burbs
all of the Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan collection:
    Joe Vs The Volcano
Sleepless in Seattle/You've got mail (I know, chick flicks but worth it.)
    Once Bitten
    Uncle Buck
    Adventures in Babysitting
    Nothing But Trouble

This thread has nostalgia written all over it for a lot of us....

I'll have to look through my Laserdisc collection...:anonymous:
