Considering using an isolator and running a second battery In the bed. Is there any reason I cant do this? Wanting to put a can back soft top on and built a platform. Just figured it would be easier to wire a small fuse panel and/or inverter if the battery was in a battery box in the bed of the truck. Thoughts?

ETA I want To do this so I can Keep a fridge in my daily driver and also be able to run a couple of fans when camping. It’s hot as satan’s Taint

no reason you cant, its a lot of wiring -- i have my house battery in the bed and it was a pain to run all that 00 cable

you have to drill holes, i grommet them too so it wouldnt wear into the wire and ran isolators at the acr, starter, fuse, and house battery so if i needed to work on anything all is isolated. 3 isolators/breakers at least for the house and the usual breakers at the fuse block and invertor

I’m for sure I’m over my head. I came To this idea after reading a post at the exped overland forum about a $50 dollar dual battery setup using an isolator. This may get interesting. I don’t mind drilling holes. I do Mind setting my truck on fire.

do it right and isolate anything because if shit hits the fan you dont want any live wire if you are running it front to back. I dont know how much ive spent on my setup but its nice to have a battery at the other end of the truck for running accessories.
