Got a case of the Irish Honey Ale coming to my local craft beer store next week.

 

Anyone have any air compressor (for the garage) recommendations? Don't need anything too crazy, HF works for me.

 

Yeah I was being sarcastic like I have always called diagonal side cutters dikes.

 

Probably mostly just tire fill ups honestly haha. but would like to have one that can run air tools. whats a "decent size" tank? HF has a 17gal 150psi for 170. I feel like thats way more than I need though.

 

I have a 6 gallon Bostitch pancake compressor I use for the nailers that came with the kit and airing up tires. Wouldn't mind having a bigger thank, but it works just fine.

I think my dads got that same size but I'm not sure. I might get the smallest one that has wheels haha. I think there was an 8 gal tank with wheels on it.

Butts. That have butts for sale. I was slightly confused for a moment.

 

If you are using an air wrench for tire rotations the 6 gallon would probably be just fine. Since you only use the wrench in short bursts, it gives the compressor a few moments to refill the tank.

@ahspurlock would be the answer guy on this, I would think.

 

Hahah, that got me at first, too. Told the wife earlier if the rain holds off tomorrow I am going to smoke a butt. Got a craving for pulled pork tacos.

 

Tank size and CFM(flow) are the numbers that will give real performance. Some airtools have specific cfm requirements, like paint guns and sand blasters. A simple 10ish gallon would be fine for just tires and impact gun for lug nuts. I've taken vehicles apart and put them back together with this one.

When I was a kid, my dad would take me with him and gave me a cart to check out for that reason.

 

Ha you'll burn through that 7 gal in no time at min. I would get something like this. An air impact uses a lot of air and if you get anything like a little die grinder or sander they use even more air.

Edit: Just realized you are looking at a 17gal not 7 that would be a good sized tank for pretty much whatever a hobbyist would need.

You can never have a big enough receiver tank. The more storage the happier your air compressor.
