I've tried 16", 17" , and 18" on my Tacoma. I think 16" look better and offer a better ride. Sadly, some companies don't offer some of their tires below 17".

Looking for an opinion here. I am torn between two options for getting my wheels dialed in to put 285s on a 16 inch wheel on my ride that is 8inchs wide. Backgroud info: got OME lift with 887 coils, dakars, arb w/9500 winch, dakars in rear with LR UCAS on a 06 access cab w/standard tranny

My goals are to gain a bigger tire for better wheeling ability and to fill in some wheel space since putting on my lift, I also have no issues with trimming or doing a cab mount chop for this endeavor

Option 1: get wheels with 0-offset/4.5inch of backspacing. From my research getting these specific setup of wheels requires getting a more "boutique" off road wheel that often cost a lot (college is expensive :( ), I like the method NV wheels but out of my range for sure but sometimes you got to pay to play.

Option 2: get wheels that fit 285s and just add bora (hub centric spacers are the best I am told?) to clear the UCAs. While Ive read great things about these spacers I worry about the side affects of these on wheel bearings and other components hence my inclination to just get wheel with proper backspacing/offset and trim if I need to

will these dimensions fit my 09 4x4 taco without spacers?
I don't want spacers if I can avoid them
    i know there's a chart on here,
but it's kind of like Chinese arithmetic to me, I'm clueless
I plan on running 265 tires, currently running 245 tires.

You should be fine, I run 265/75/16s on stock with no rubbing at all. With these you should be more than good, looking at these myself to go 285s

Hey TW I am trying to figure out what my offset and backspacing should be. I have a 2016 Tacoma off-road and I am going to run 275/70r17 tires. I'm going to put a 3 inch lift using King coilovers and rear shocks with AAL from @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc . Any suggestions on offset and spacing?

    Not much stock left.
Are you doing a shock relocate on the rears? I did and had to do a negative offset or else use wheel spacers, which I didn’t want to do.

I went with the piggybacks on the rear.

I am in the process of doing this exact same lift right now. Bought 17x8 wheels with 0 offset (4.5 backspacing) and 275/70R17.

After much research, I think they’ll work for a good alignment and not (if any) much rubbing

Just so you know, those wheels are Level 8 MK6 if you search TW for MK6, you’ll find lots of pictures and ideas on how to rock those wheels the best (get rid of the 8 on the hub). I like those wheels. Being a 9” wide wheel, they will stick out pretty far. 265s are very narrow for those wheels, I would personally go with 285s on a 9” wide wheel.

The thing that would worry me most about those wheels is that the hub size is 108.

If your hub size is 106.1, then you’ll want to run with hub rings with those wheels so the wheel is more hubcentric. For that reason, I would suggest buying a wheel with the correct hub size.

So price is a bit of a factor with the wheels. The wife is actually agreeing to new wheels and tires and we both like the way the 7031s look. So if it doesn't cause an issue with the truck, will those wheels be fine with hub rings?

So many responses and i'm sure this question may have been answered already, i just bought a 2018 TRD OFF ROAD, i want to throw on TRD PRO 4Runner wheels, They are 17 x 7 with offset 4. I'm wondering if its at all possible to run the wheels with some solid tires on the truck with out having to lift it or have any rubbing? Hoping chances are someone is already running these on their Tacoma, i found a seller willing to give me a killer deal so want to move on these ASAP if they will work without any issues. I was told running a 265/70/17 on stock Tacoma would work possibly, but wanting to get some more feedback and opinions.

There are guys in this thread saying they’ll work. I don’t even know if they make quality hub rings that thin. Might be good to go without them. I’m not an expert, I just know a matching hub bore is best

Thanks for the info. Well the thing is I don’t have a lift as of now soon! but was wondering if I could run them until I bought the lift. Doing some comparing I think they will stick out about 1.5 inches ? Not aposed to do some fender trimming but definitely not trying to do the cab mount chop lol. Did the search lots of 17x9 out there not many people this wheel with the neg offset? Any more thought on the situation thanks again.

It’s the correct offset for the width, it’s just an overly wide wheel. They’ll work great for bigger tires and a lift later. The only issue with the 265/70 might just be the mud flap, and that might not be an issue either. The following calculator is useful. Not sure if I typed in your current setup correctly.
