New Truck, only 900 miles on it

When changing from drive to reverse, there is kind of a clunky studder when lifting foot off the break. Does this go away with time, or is it just part of the design?

Give it some time. It's so new you might be over-thinking everything. If it's really bad, and all the time, take it back to have the dealer look at it.

Mine was clunking when shifting from Park to Reverse and also from Reverse into Drive at 200 miles.
I added 1 quart of transmission fluid and the clunking was gone.

I later checked the transmission fluid level and only a few ounces came out of the overflow, so the factory fill was low.

My rear differential was about 1 quart 8 ounces low and the front dif was 7 ounces low.

My transfer case was full from factory.

It’s a good idea to check the fluids when new.
