Greetings all, Just thought I would share some knowledge. I recently purchased a set of bolt-on rock sliders from SOS Concepts and honestly they have been amazing. However, the brake lines run down the driver side of the frame. You have to move them out of the way before drilling or risk damaging them. Which I did without issue. The issue came after I got all of the mounting bolts in.

This is what it looked like immediately after the install.

Here I pushed the brake lines up a bit to give a better picture of the original mounting hole.

Had I just drilled out the origin mounting hole, the metal would have to think for the plastic clip to clip on to. I needed to find another way.

My first step was to remove the plastic clip and flip it over, as shown here.

This now left the clip just laying on top of the nut for the rock sliders. Worried about vibration rubbing and destroying the clip (and my break line) I had to find a way to both lift the clip and press it against the frame. I ended up cutting the bottom off of a plastic/rubber coffee can and making a mount. The hole for the clip is 3/8" and the hole for the bolt is 1/2" as shown.

As you can see in this pic, the clip is both lifted off of the bolt and held in place.

The plastic is actually very strong semi-flexible. It worked out well, but I will keep an eye it on to make sure it holds up.

[Edit] Here is a picture of the taco

I just ran in to this issue tonight. Good fix. I ended up using a plastic wire clamp around mine.

I took the plastic clips completely off. Used a 1/4" bolt, and 1/4" p-clamps. Will post a pic

It's nice to know I am not the only one who has run into this.

Sub'd. I'm about to install my SOS sliders... I've never drilled into my frame before so I'm sure I'll be referencing this thread to help me out. Any other suggestions to help make my install easier?

    Thanks!

Use oil as you drill. I burned out a number of bits before someone suggested it. Worked like a champ.

I totally forgot about this post. As an update though, the sliders are still there and amazing (Thank you @EddyRRT). Even the plastic clip is still in good shape with no signs of wear.

Oh no, I had to drill. I think these were the 1Gen bolt on sliders that SOS Concepts were making. I think the newer ones are no-drill.

Just FYI, not only do they work VERY well off-road, they also work well when doing front end work. I switched out the front struts to Bilstein 5100's a couple of weekends ago and placed jack stands under the most forward part of the sliders to hold the entire front off the ground while working.
