I personally didnt like the noises the ac compressor would make at idle in traffic. I know it was just the clutch kicking on amd off but jeez it was noisy

Here is a copy of the TSB for anyone interested. It states there is an updated AC pressure switch with those who have a poorly performing AC above 100*F and there is also a pusher fan integrated into the kit.

I wonder if the primary issue is a defective or faulty pressure switch? I have never gotten deep into testing this thing because I always figured it was a lack of airflow and the system blows cold, just not cold enough, but part of me wonders if there is a legitimate mechanical issue like a faulty part or something now.

I also wonder if the pusher fan will even work with out modifying the supercharger LTR location. Next week I am going to see how much it costs for the stuff in that tsb.
All if not most of the sealing for the radiator will be obsolete for me since when I put the csf rad in I sealed it.

I checked utilizing the part numbers supplied, for one of the kits alone which consists of a pusher fan from Toyota, pressure switch, rubber seals and a few connectors, the cost is some $700+ alone. There was another part number which I could not figure out what it was though I was seeing compressor upon a quick Google search.

I am concerned about installing an e-fan in our already right space due to our blower intercooler as well. It was the first thing i thought of actually.

Also did you notice how you have to modify that fan to get it to fit in a stock truck? It seems like toyota found a random pusher fan from another vehicle and is basically saying “make it work”.

Now I am not saying the Toyota fan isn’t worth it. You can easily buy a cheap fan on amazom, but is it going to be a high pressure fan to push through a radiator, and last the elements/conditions of being in an engine bay?

Also seems shady to me that everything costs $700+ when half that stuff probably should have came built in to the truck.

My dad works at an auto group I will see what everything costs with his discount(their cost + ~$1 I think) then we can see how not only are they screwing us by not including it they are selling it to us for probably a 20% mark up. Tis life, I guess that’s why they are called stealerships.

I am hoping one of these threads on this site breeds some solutions. Next friday/saturfay it is supposed to be 110...

No I know. I was thinking that they probably utilize a system off another truck because I noticed you have to hack up the fan as well. Which is not okay, but at the same time you're going to charge us an arm and a leg for a set up that should have came with the truck in the first place? I mean great you know at least they are addressing an issue which should have been addressed a long time ago sort of like their frame rust rot and leaf spring issues, but still don't rape us for your own short-sighted shortcomings you know?

Agreed 100%. While we are at it I want to retro fit the seqouia hvac fans. My silly tacoma has to be on the highest setting for it to mildly cool the cabin, every other speed is useless. Even with a brand new cabin filter.

Let's do this, come Monday we should investigate the pressure sensor updated part number and try that first. I wonder if there is a high rate of faulty sensors.

I think that is our only option from the tsb. I just checked, the cooling fan uses the same mount the LTR uses so unless we relocate it, the fan won’t sit in the right spot. Great looking out by Toyota especially since they you know used to sell the supercharger kits..

Any recommendations for a thermometer to check vent temp? I would like to hopefully do everything one at a time and measure for improvements.

Yeah this tsb is a complete no go for S/C trucks. Even where they mount the new fuse box won’t work. Atleast for automatic, non trd offroad trucks.

Toyota finally gives a solution and it doesn’t even work on all truck configurations.

A thermometer? I typically use an IR temp gun which is aimed directly at the center can't as close as possible to it, but preferably a thermometer with a probe would be better and more accurate.

Yeah I was noticing the mount locations utilizes our blower intercooler slots as well. If the switch doesn't work we may actually be able to fool the thermostat as well as is Bing mentioned in @Bebop 's thread to make the system blow cooler.

Limited options as we are part of the supercharger crew. :(

So in looking at the tsb I don’t see where the pressure switch is actually replaced?

Also since I think this still fits in here, I really wonder if we could get a better hvac blower in these trucks.

    Sienna(11+)/Sequoia(08+): 87103-0C051
    Tacoma(05-15): 87103-04044
    Tacoma(18+): 87103-04050
    Tundra (07+): 87103-0C040
    Avalon,Camry,Highlander(13+)/Venza(13-15): 87103-0E040

I find it interesting the 16+ tacos use a new blower. I wonder if just a difference in plug type? Also the last one listed is used in a lot of vehicles. I have to say I was in my brother’s venza one time in the arizona heat and that fan kicked azz compared to my tacoma.

Part numbers are good and all, now I need to see if there is a way to look up what the plugs look like on all of these. They very well could all have different wiring, or maybe they are all the same. I’d like to find out which one is the closest and buy a cheap non oem one and see if it’s possible to get it to fit and work. Then could dump the $$ into an oem part and see if there is an improvement. I’d love to get the sequoia/sienna fan since those have the biggest cabs. Even if it was plug and play the tacoma wiring might not be heavy enough to power it without issues.

I live in a very warm climate in the summer. But, I suppose having a white truck with tinted windows helps a great deal. I have no A/C issues. Once it gets to be in the mid 80's or higher switching to "MAX A/C" (recirculation mode) helps tremendously.

I also use one of those solar shields in the front windshield when I know I'm going to be parked for a while. Rolling down the windows for a minute or so can help cool things down when you first drive off too.

That said...here's my $1 A/C mod. 1/2" I.D. non-sealing pipe insulation. The idea is try and retain as much of that cold charge as possible as it routes through the hot engine bay. Hopefully it helps to reduce heat soak as well.
