New to Tacoma with an 09 double cab TRD. All options possible, I think, it sure seemed like it when I bought it new. I joined this forum to learn more about my rig and what others have done to upgrade and customize them.

I have a serious wheeling jeep in the garage and hence the call sign jeepmor. I've had this moniker forever and everywhere on the net forums and keep it for sheer simplicity. So if you wanna give me shit, you have to wheel with me first.;) Just explaining is all, considering this is Toyota stomping ground, thought I'd put that out there.

Several years back, my wife had an 85 4runner as a daily driver and we OME lifted it and put 33's on it. I have a lot of hours logged on that rig as she was a salvage rescue. For the life of me, I could not tell what was ever wrong with the rig for it to get totaled. A fuel pump was the only "oh shit" failure she ever encountered, and it happened while we were visiting her mother, so it was spendy.

In other words, I'm well versed in this particular Toyota legend that is the 85 4runner, so I'm not a rookie to the wrenches or the trails. Her rig was stolen by some meth heads at the grocery store parking lot and joy rode into the woods, literally. It was abandoned where it was stuck between two trees way far away from the 7 other stripped and bullet laden Toyta truck carcasses. It was a good wheeler. We found it 7 months later when the police notified us. I jumped the battery and drove it home. All glass was good, all body was shot. We found a broken meth pipe, that's how we know that part.

We sold it to a friend as my jeep is the dedicated project rig. It was tough, but we had to do it. Especially due to that damage and cost of repair. My wife still pines over that rig to this day. She cried over it several times after it was stolen, it meant that much to her. It's still alive somewhere in the local area, all restored and running as a DD still. So, it really is a happy story, just not mine to share.

Meanwhile and before that, I've been building up my 84 CJ7 up to a purpose built wheeler with 35s, Howell TBI, OME SOA custom lift, shackle reversal, HEI, T18, 4.56, D44 front, hysteer, bullet proof M20, warn full float w/ stubs, warn spindles and so forth. This is why I'm jeepmor, I've owned this jeep the past 16 years. Not to mention it burning up and requiring a full resto in 1995, 1 year after I bought it.

If you've read this far, thanks. I'm looking forward to tapping into the extensive knowledge base and will inquire and share as I log the miles and upgrade my Tacoma.

When I replace these pathetic stock tires, I will be installing an OME suspension and the larger tires such that I may increase it's load capacity and improve it's ride. OME is the shit for forest roads and wheeling. I'm well versed in OME suspension and know first hand it's capability.

As I proceed with this Tacoma, I really appreciate the bolt stuff that can greatly improve the off-road protection and capability. My Tacoma is my daily driver and it'll stay that way. However, it has to get some new rubber soon and I think I might get another 10k out of these wimpy tires if I'm lucky, I thinking 5k more is all I'm going to get.

I'm happy to join another forum to tap into the resource that will become my sounding board for future upgrades and all things Taco.
