I got the reg off the MA site and the formula for 4x4s is Wheel base x wheel track/2200. So with a 127.4" wheelbase (DCSB 4x4) x 63.4" wheel track (took the larger of the 2 dimensions)/2200=3.7" of lift. Starting with a ground clearance of 9.3" I should be able to go up to 13" of ground clearance with a combined tire/mechanical liftage. I'm bringing this paper work with me to shut down anyone else who tries to give me crap now!

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
You will only go down 1/2". The other 1/2" is at the top of the tire. The 1 inch height difference is divided in half

Same numbers and info that I used. Luckily in Nashville, their only law on lift limits is that the frame can't be more than 21 inches off the ground. Woo!

Ok fellas, I'm gonna ask probably the most loaded question I possibly could... if I wanted to give my Sierra a little more height for nothing more than looks, is that big money and much more importantly, is there any chance I will risk drive-ability/ride quality or whatever? I don't need more clearance, I won't ever off-road this thing, I don't even want significantly larger tires. I just want the truck to be like 2" taller.

I have always said I'll never lift a truck since I am way much of a function over form type of guy, but I think I'd really like the truck to be a little taller.

But the MGL always differed/ conflicted with the RMV regs so far as I understand it.

According to that, I can get away with a 5" lift for my Super Duty and still be legal :anonymous:
    159.8*68.3/2200=4.96"
I'd just do your research. You run the same risks as you do with a Tacoma, but I'm sure there are a few 'GMC' specific land mines to be mindful of. Spend some time in a GMC forum and you'll find them. With my Super Duty, for example, there's a huge risk of death wobble if you lift it.

    These posts aren't encouraging...

I think I'm just gonna wait until I'm ready to trade and then get the 2500 I wanted anyway.

The rear springs are pretty soft on the F-150. They're fine for a load in the bed, but they're not great with tongue weight.

Part of me wants to put an AAL in or something, but then the front is too low and I don't really want to spend the money or time to do everything.

I've seen that video before, that's horrible! I'd be absolutely furious if my new truck started doing that. The service dept he's going to is obviously out to lunch with the responses he'd been given also.

I've heard great things about the Roadmaster Active Suspension for the rear of the F150 or, you can do what I did, and get the Sumosprings. The Roadmaster is pricey but the reviews I've read have been positive. I was happy with the Sumosprings. Stock ride unloaded which was nice.

    Looks familiar...

Me too. To spend that kind of $$ on a truck and then have the service department dicking you around would be unbelievable.

    Because chin dragger.

I see a ton of lifted GM's around here, but I'm not sure what they used for a kit. Next time I see one at the grocery store I'll peek under her skirt and see what the label says.

The Sumosprings look interesting. Not too expensive, either. Might have to look into that, thanks!

You're just a little too late, I could have sold you my old ones cheap. They're the same part number for the 2018 and everything. There are 2 versions, 1,000# and 1,500#, just my $0.02 but, if you go the Sumospring route, I'd stick with the 1,000# option. That was plenty for the F150.
