Anyone running the Front Runner Bed rack? I'm looking at getting rid of my CBI Overland Rack and getting the lower profile Front Runner. I would like to hears your pro's and con's. Thanks.

They don't have a "bed rack." They do have bed bars that attach into the rails on the sides of the bed. Due to the attachment method, I wouldn't put much weight on them.

My CBI Rack attaches the same way. The Front Runner is rated for 660lbs.

The CBI rack's weight rests on the bed sides, not the attachment point.

True. I know I've seen others mount their RTT on the Front Runner. May be best to get the bedside reinforcements as well.

Bed stiffeners are great, but will not do anything to help strengthen the attachment points of the FrontRunner bed bars.

Each bed rail is held in place by five or six relatively small T30 bolts. With the FrontRunner bed bars, these bolts will be carrying 100% of the weight and forces exerted by the bars and anything on them. Furthermore, the vertical forces will be perpendicular to the bolts (not what the bolts are designed for), which will likely result in these bolts shearing/breaking in time.

I love FrontRunner products, but this is not one I'd get if you intend on carrying any significant weight on them. There are plenty of vendors that make similar cross-bars in similar price ranges, that transfer their weight the bed sides.

Great thoughts... I have not considered this.

They emailed me and said a static load was probably 600 lbs but a moving load was only 200 lbs.
Moving load was in response to my question regarding how much weight I could attach to their load bars and do some off camber off roading and rock crawling. I mentioned an RTT or 4 mountain bikes, a load up to approximately 180-200 lbs.

I have been researching this for a little while. I'm leaning heavily towards the CBI bed rack in aluminum. Lightest for the strength, best looking, most available space to use, and has removable top crossbars for tall things.

I am bringing this one back from the dead as I was wondering if anyone has some time with the Front Runner bed bars & a RTT. All the other bars are either back order or 3-4 week build time. I don't have that luxury of wait time.
