Just messing with ya. No way I'll have MTs on a DD back home anymore. I had the original KMs and they gave me a real good scare in the interstate once.

I think 99% of everything is a mall crawler out here haha. I've never seen so many roof racks, light bars, full king suspensions, etc on toyotas that are showroom shiny.

My dad had the opposite experience with his duratracs. They were scary in the rain when they were half worn. I don't think they ever saw snow or ice though.

Hmmmm checked out a truck tonight and mechanically it looked great and drove amazing but cosmetically it was blah. Dented tailgate, silver dollar size dents in back of the cab, two long scratches on each door. Also the interior was dirty and front seats needed new bottoms. Not clue what to do since it is cheap and one owner last 12 years. Hmmm

If they didn't take care of it cosmetically I'd question how they took care of it mechanically. Could be worth the risk if it's cheap though. The interior is a pretty easy fix, can the dents be worked out with PDR maybe?

It’s mostly wear and tear on the interior and typical dings and dents outside. He said he has a ton of maintenance records and mechanic lives next door. Not a drop of oil in the engine bay and drove smooth and tight. Need to see it in the light though to really determine. Going back tomorrow morning to check it out again.

My car looks bad on the outside and my drivers seat is wrecked but I maintain the shit out of the drivetrain motor and suspension.

That’s where I’m torn. Drove perfect, but it wont be a trail rig so would like it to look a little nice. Although I could pay outright for it and not deal with a payment. The 2nd gen tundra crew cabs have been looking nice though but money.

today we've officially had it a week and we got so much done its unreal. Today should be some texture and finish mudding and patching some holes and the beam. Really coming together.

Looks good. What's your plan for covering it all on the inside? Gonna do carpet or just paint it and leave it like it is?

Yeah I imagine it would be pretty loud back there without carpet. I did some sound deadening on the floor of my cargo area and it made a noticeable difference. I'm cheap so I just used peal n seal from Lowe's, and some closed cell foam I bought a bunch of a few years back when I did the sound deadening on my front doors.

The wheel wells will probably be really loud without anything if a rock lets lose from a tire on the interstate.

Nice, so that’s the long term plan right? what’s the plan for shocks/coils short term? You clearly have quite a bit more up than those shocks can handle.

I went out to Joshua Tree National Park last weekend despite the heat. It was hot, but some rain showers in the area kept it bearable. Plus the clouds made for some neat pictures and a rainbow at one point. Probably not a common sight in the desert...

Joshua trees are one of the coolest looking plants. Driving back I got 34 mpg in the mustang, and it held 10th gear almost all the way back. Much different than driving the 4Runner to say the least... All the dirt roads out there were calling my name, they looked like they'd have been a real good time in the 4Runner.
