This is my first adventure into the 4x4 world. Everything I have ever owned has either been fast as hell or low as hell. I don't know a whole lot about the lift side of things. Other than some occasion light trail riding I wont be doing anything crazy off road. I already have a level kit and a 265 tire. Is there a budget friendly lift I could fit a 315 or bigger on? Id like to do 35's and it will likely be 90% aesthetic value. I know rough country is supposedly garbage? anything you all recommend?

35s gonna require a lot of trimming An bashing of your pinch weld an fenders. There is so many options toytec is good, ome great but nowhere coilovers depends on your use an budget. You can run 33s in a 285/75/16 which usually requires cab mount chop an some massaging of your wheel well. You could also run a 255/85/16 tall skinny 33 with just a lift on both ballpark 2.5-3 in. Best bet is to contact Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road shes very knowledgeable an won’t try to sell you something just the facts of the respective suspension your looking for. I read she’s out till the 5th just shoot her an email with your questions she’s good with answering.

I don’t think fitting 315 tires will ever be part of a “budget lift”, because clearance issues aside, the truck is going to be horrible to drive without a re-gear and that is never cheap. Just my opinion, but I can’t imagine running 315s on stock gearing and being happy about it.

this is the exact info Im looking for. maybe going a bit smaller and running a 285 is a better way to go. My 265 and level kit look great, I just want a little bit taller overall

What is your budget before rims and tires are factored in?

You can get away with coil overs in the front, some 5100s for the rear, an add a leaf and keep the tires at 33s and you should be good. Get the OVtune and call it a day.

Go with the 285's. It's the perfect size tire. I do not do any off road stuff either so I have mine sitting on a 3 inch nitro kit and it rides great. I saw no need to drop 2k on something I wont use.

That's where my head is as well. I haven't ruled out the 4 inch rough country kit or nitro. I will be doing very little off-roading and what I will do will be very light in nature so I don't need a $4k kit to keep up with the Jones and what not

I actually have the 4 inch Rough Country kit on mine. It really isn’t as bad as most make it out to be. I wouldn’t do any serious off roading with it but then again, I don’t do serious off roading anyway so it’s perfect. Light off-roading has been fun so far and without issue. I did use Fox 2.5s on the front instead of stock and B110s on the rear with an add a leaf and 2 inchblock and it rides great. Started with 33s but recently went up to 35s. I had to do the 4.88s with the 35s and that’ll be another big expense so plan for it if you’re gonna go to 35s. 33s you can get by with stock gears but the OVTune helps out immensely and to me would be mandatory. RC isn’t as bad as most people say but most of the people that are saying how bad RC is are also the ones that have no experience with it at all and are just repeating what they heard. Ask them specifically WHY is RC garabage and all you get is crickets.

Do I have to change my wheels for 18 or bigger for the RC 4 inch kit? I like my 16 inch off road wheels but I understand there can be clearance issues.

Yes. I think it’s 17s or bigger but don’t quote me on that cause I’ve had 18s on it the whole time.

Since I had my 33’s installed I have no loss of power. I actually think it shifts better now. Spacers and blocks are taboo on this forum but I’m not flushing down 2-4K on something I’m not using. Plus why go do serious off road stuff on a truck you have close to 40,000k invested in. That’s just my 2 cents.
