Don't think for one minute that all insurances companies aren't looking at any available databases they can to set their rates, even USAA.

I'm amazed at the number of people who can't read here.

Had the truck less than a year.
How can you make an annual mileage assumption based on a couple months.
Some people, myself included, drive more in some months than others.
Reading comprehension. I guess it's a lost art.

BTW, Nice work those of you that immediately figured I was a liar who was pissed about being "found out." I'm sorry, have we met?

So much for trying to pass on a heads up to some fellow TWers.
If it's CARFAX that's one thing, but if it's Toyota that's another thing entirely.

I've had State Farm for 20+ years and have never had my rate/premium changed (other than minor market/macro based rate increases & decreases) for any reason. Even with 2 claims on the past 12 months (windshield & moose collision).

I avoided a head on collision at the last second by accelerating, but she smashed into the side of my Taco. $6K repair to the entire passenger side.

Is this not a regulatory issue?

I was recently shopping for a used car, and I was shocked to see that mileage was reported on the carfaq for each service a car received.

I thought it was pretty cool to see all the services reported along with mileage being reported. It made shopping for a used car much more easy.

That helped me out a lot on one of my last Civics. Got it very cheap because the cluster had been swapped so it wasn't showing original mileage. Carfax was the only way to get an idea of what the true mileage was.

Between the mileage I added and what I was able to gather from Carfax, the car had a minimum of 210,000 miles when it was totaled with 5 years that went undocumented. Would have been nice to know just how many miles that little sucker drove.

I have. Received the "company policy" rhetoric and apparently when I contracted with them online I did e-sign a document that allows them to extrapolate mileage based on a single month.

I cancelled my policy for my truck, my wife's car, my motorcycle, and my house. Never again, State Farm.

I don't think you understand, the OP was stating his insurance went up before the end of the contract for the insurance. That happened to me when I had the truck for 3 months. We did a bunch of camping trips and out of state trips using the truck. The insurance company raised my rate,I explained the situation but they based it on assumption(In 3 months I drove just under 10k. they took that number divided the months and made a new number of how many miles I drove per year) So I paid for the whole year upfront (The Difference), stopped driving my truck drove my wife's car for the majority of the time. Then just before the end of the contract, I showed the insurance my odometer and the insurance had to credit me for the miles I didn't drive in the form a check because it was an assumption vs actual contract terms.

Had 5 or 6 insurance companies over the years. Never had one try this and i drive around 40k a year. But we dont have inspections either. Never heard of this happening. Get a different insurance company.

Hahahaha. Did I touch a nerve there, tough guy? I won't be baited into your crazy need for confrontation. Had a look back at your eight thousand some-odd posts. Wow. Argumentative much? Buh-bye.
