    same with mine.......just a hitch and wiring for the trailer lights plug in.

    The 2004 Owners Manual is the only document that gives this sort of figure, and it's obviously wrong.

    The factory spec sheets unanimously list 5000 lbs. as the max trailer weight. There's no combination of figures that would yield a 6000 lb. capacity. So far as I know, it's a typo.

    For one thing, a 6000 lb. trailer would automatically put you as much as 1000 lbs. or more over the GCWR spec (which is uniform throughout that era).

    Whatever's listed on a hitch is an indication of the hitch's spec capacity, and doesn't have any bearing on the vehicle's capacity spec's. You can install a 6000-lb. capable hitch on a Geo Metro, but that doesn't mean you've suddenly added that much towing capacity.

    I have a factory tow hitch on my tacoma.

    I will check what color my radiator fan is.

    The fan clutch paint color is an indication of whether you have the (full) factory tow package. Green definitely means you have the factory tow package. However, over the years there have been a couple of reports from people who clearly had the factory tow package but still had the regular / orange colored fan clutch.

    I also have a hitch and wiring for the trailer lights...I'm going to check the paint color on my fan :eek:
