Nice. Noticed you have a manual trans, it should be noted for some that may not know that coasting down big hills in neutral with an auto is a big no-no lol.

When you travel long distances like road trips, it matters because of fuel range. Other than that, I don't care.

Some years I drive almost 23,000 miles. Car insurance is astronomical in NJ, as is the cost of living, property taxes and everything you buy for day to day life. A difference of just 3mpg @ $3.00 per gallon makes a $631 difference.

Since $150 is nothing to you, PM me and I'll send you my name and address and you can send me a money order for $50, because I'm not greedy.

Why do people care? Because when $6 a gallon gas is considered a good buy, it makes a difference. And yes, thats what a US gallon of regular 87 octane gasoline costs in Vancouver BC (Bring Cash) Canada.
    $3 a gallon?!?!! I wish!

The only thing that bugs me is that full size trucks are managing similar if not better fuel numbers. Wouldn't be that big an issue if the Tacoma had loads of extra power on hand but...

I also hate how huge the mileage fluctuation is. The trip home from the restaurant probably cost you an extra mpg just from the weight of the meal.

I’m definitely disappointed in the Tacoma with the power to gas Mileage. My 360 horsepower f150 got 20 mpg or better regularly and the 36 gallon tank was one full a week no problem. The Tacoma is 2 tanks a week and gear hunts all the time just to keep a steady speed. I’m used to it now and 22 mpg isn’t too bad for my needs everything else about owning the taco over a fillsize is cheaper too. That seems to be the reason everyone like them, cheap, fun, useful and long lasting.

Look at MPG's from the perspective of someone who drives in excess of 30K (Or some of us, more than that) a year. The cost goes up.... I don't worry about mileage, but I damn sure make certain I get the best mileage my Tacoma is capable of....with mud tires and gear change, and armor, and....

It's just a number. That has a $ before it...

LOVE your post, hilarious..... coming from someone who had a truck that felt like it got about -3 mpg I am impressed with the 15-20 range, buying the truck is going to save me thousands over the life of this truck. Kept my last one for 20 years...

In my neck of the woods oil and gas are the lifeblood of our economy. We love gas guzzlers and high prices at the pump. That means the oil companies are drilling, everyone has a help wanted sign out front and all our friends, family and hoboes are making and spending money. We don't need solar energy or electric cars. They are gonna make new dinosaurs. http://www.nhm.ac.uk/discover/could-scientists-bring-dinosaurs-back.html We've seen the movies so we know that will end well.

Because seeing straight peaks of 30mpg on the Eco app is fun as hell. It's like beating your high score in an arcade game. My last two drives into work I got 28 mpg (32 miles). Also, filling up every 1.5 or 2 weeks vs. 1 week is nice.

Wow. No this isn't original, pretty much every brodozer driver has said that every chance they get. Is this the best you could do was get a tacoma? If you really want to piss off the tree-huggers you should have gotten a diesel truck so you could "roll coal" on them when you drive by. I haven't read all the pages in this thread but I'm assuming this is what it boils down to. "People aren't doing things how I do things so they're wrong, and my little ego can't take it!" And it's just as pathetic coming from people who drive a prius and look down on pickup drivers.

People need to grow the fuck up. Why can't people just let others do what they want to do to their truck? Same shit happened every time it came up in my Jeep forums. There's nothing wrong with optimizing your vehicle to be as efficient as it can be. There's only so much you can do with this platform, but you can make it get better mileage, and if you want to figure out those ways while still having an awesome fucking truck then good for you!
