I agree with you, their kit seems to be the best and most reliable plug and play option out there and the customer reviews on customer support has been great.

To be totally fair, I believe there was a "do it yourself" kit put together by a member here before the 12 volt. But for us plug and play kind of guys theirs was the first and nobody provides better service.

I am definitely not a fan of splicing wires on a new truck. Did you end up getting the smart phone module? And if so how do you like it any complaints?

No smart phone module here (yet). No current need in my case. If it were a $100 cheaper I'd get it anyway, but a bit pricey when I am always in close proximity and don't need the other stuff.

Since 12Volt is local to me, I gave them a call during my after work meal. Had both the Remote Start and Phone Module in stock and offered to install for me while I wait. Have only had for about an hour now, but I like it so far.

So, the remote start works with both the FOB and the phone.

With the GPS, when you use it to locate, then click on the 'pin' showing it's location,... it brings up the coordinates and gives directions (there is a little icon in the lower right corner for this, after clicking on it's pin).

@Travis17 When I arrived, they were testing some other features. Temp controlled remote start failure alert. Apparently for police k9 units, who want the car to start and turn on the A/C, and or possibly turn on a fan and roll a window down (not sure on the total operational sequence).

The new feature he was toying with is an alert mode for the above, ...say if the car did not start, A/c didn't come on, or the window or fan didn't operate correctly. It is supposed to send an alert to the officer that something isn't right and they need to go check it out.

He doesn't have that completely final yet, but it is supposedly an existing function of the system they are now working on.

Thanks for sharing your experience John! Mike O - get with me tomorrow.. I might have something for you ;)

I have no problem telling people that we use a DB3. We don't hide that at all. Heck, we even show the module in our videos (our original Tacoma video used the Dball2). BUT.. we designed our own harness over a year ago... way before anyone else had one available. We aren't the only ones to offer a Tacoma solution anymore, but I will tell you (and so will other TW members), that our customer service and tech. support will far exceed your expectations and be above any other that you will encounter. We take our business seriously. We aren't a 1 man army slinging crap out of a garage!

Also - I feel like its my duty to inform all of you about the Accessorides remote start. I bought two kits from them..because keeping an eye on everyone else is just part of what we do. The reason they sell so cheap is because they are using a module that has been discontinued for 6 years! I contacted mt Directed rep and he said they are only available through B-stock, which means they are refurbished. Just providing a heads up for any of you on the fence! Also, if any of you want a remote start, call us at the shop.. we got some deals going on and can't "promote" on TW.

Here are a couple pictures of the b-stock module from the other guys, and another "plug and play" remote start that we got from them. Its unbelievable how a company who uses a UPS store as their business address can be dishonest and not completely be up front about their products! I have also attached a picture of this "plug and play" kit that they have on their website. You've all been warned lol.

On a side note: If you guys are ready for a Group Buy... let us know!

    Clay

Props for providing great support man! I didn't know you were selling Fortin, so I wasn't directing that at you. I like Fortin stuff.. We are in pretty tight with that company. Talk to them almost daily.

Agree, I think you guys have a great remote start/cellular option. I currently do the dei smart start, but is more costly and they recently put an update out that broke the 2way communication. So waiting on fortin to provide an update. So I am good with just selling 3x starts as it’s less issues to deal with. I was looking at selling the DB3, but didn’t want to step on your guys feet, even though they are a few bucks cheaper for me.

Update- carrying a different smart start option that works with Fortin.

Yeah, that Smart Start update screwed up a lot of people. I almost switched to Fortin modules and redesigned our harness because of the crap DEI pulled a while back, but we use DB3s in a lot of our applications. We use the Evo All in some of our Nissan, Ford, and GM. We use Idata for some of our Chrysler, Ford, BMW, Mercedes, and a few others. Our new Audi stuff is gonna be legit... using a DB3 with European firmware and a full plug and play harness!

Glad to see you expose the crap out there. I saw that and thought there is no way they can do those for that price and make money. Makes sense if selling crap units.

I wouldn't hesitate to call the guys at 12 Volt...I did and it was a piece of cake to install! Great product, great packaging, timely shipping. You can tell these guys want to be the leader and not the follower.

Finally pulled the trigger and just bought the remote start from 12volt solutions with the smart phone module should be here Monday. I placed my order on 4th of July and it shipped less then 12 hours later i thought that was a pretty quick turn around. I will update after the install pretty excited about the use of the smart phone feature.

I take it that you have the smart phone module? How good would you say it is anything you don’t like about it?

Hey guys! We won't get too deep into the nonsense just want to clear up the false claims. First, we have NEVER shipped a refurbished or b-stock product. Everything shipped is 100% brand new product. Second, we were not one of the first to release our harness because the first batch of harnesses (the ones the competitor still sells) were defective. They used cheaper pins that were not to Toyota spec and the molds were wrong - they plug in but don't stay connected. So when installing others products and they tell you to plug them in AND wire tie them together because they don't stay in, just know you are not using a good quality product. We were not willing to compromise the integrity of your trucks so our harnesses went right into the trash until they could be made correctly. There are only 3 companies using the correct connectors 2 of the "big guys" and we are the third.

The rest honestly is just gibberish with no merit to it. We are not a retail facility so what we use to handle our logistics and shipping needs really is irrelevant. We do like the humor in being called a "1 man army" when others do everything they can to deceive customers in thinking they are some big corporation when in fact the tables are turned..

Otherwise thanks again for all the support from those of you who realized there's no reason to pay such a premium for the same product - the TW orders are still coming in as always we appreciate it!

    This is getting good.

I am honest with my customers, I am a one man shop that only does Fortin remote starters for 3rd gen Tacoma’s. I test each push start unit on my truck to verify it works prior to shipping 2-3 day priority. I have sold over 50 units to members on this page and other FB pages with 0 issues. I take pride in giving members the best bang for the buck.
