Wanted to know if anyone else has had this issue. Back when I had 285s, I had this really bad grinding, "vibration" whenever my wheel was turned one way. Kind of like a sand in the CV kind of feeling. CV boots are fine though. I replaced my passenger side hub bearing on a hunch and low and behold it was smooth as butter, but to my surprise, the original bearing felt 100% fine. Now I'm on 305s and im running into the same issue AGAIN. its driving me nuts. I researched and I didnt find anyone running into the same issue on 2nd or 3rd gens. Even with 35s. I cant be alone in this. I THINK it's the hub, considering the bearing I replaced fixed my issue last time.

Like I said, it's a fine grinding sensation picked up from the steering wheel and firewall when turning, and can occasionally feel when driving straight while on the brakes as well. It's somewhat intermittent, but something I notice every day. I have AT tires so it's not the treads I'm feeling. Cab mount and pinch weld are done so it's not a rubbing issue. What can it be?! I almost want to upgrade my hub assembly, but it's a fine line there considering the caliper clears my 16" rims by 1/8". Suggestions?

Carrier bearing shims. I had that when I first installed my 285s. Was intermittent hardly noticeable and came and went. Installed the shims - took 10 minutes. Problem solved.

You mean the carrier bearing spacers or axle shims? I have the CB drop installed at this point.

Not too sure of the backspacing, but offset is -12. They're the VTX terra wheels.

I know that a extreme offset/backspace will cause premature bearing failure, but I'm sure premature doesn't mean "months".

I once had a small stone stuck between the dust shield and the front caliper and that drove me nuts for awhile until I found it, just saying...

I wouldn't call it "extreme". Front tires are fender flush with 305 wides. No more than anyone else with SCS or otherwise. Maybe its all the God forsaken potholes here on long island..

I got OEM to replace the other one, I wasnt sure of which to get so I stuck with OEM. I had no idea people did this. I'll get in contact with this guy for sure.

I just bought my 2018 in April and put it on 285s on stock rims with wheel spacers and just switched to aftermarket rims with proper backspacing (ditching the wheel spacers) and I am also getting this intermittent vibration felt through the steering wheel and brake pedal. If anyone gives you an answer or you figure out what this is please share bc it is also driving me nuts

I cant say that we are for sure experiencing the same issue, but for what its worth, like i said, replacing one of my hubs shut it up. I think its that. The larger tires put more leverage on the hub assy. Mine got dramatically worse after fighting thru ruts on my beach this week. lots of stress on the hubs doing that. The fact that it happens when i brake as well throws a monkey wrench in it, but ill get to the bottom of this. Im gonna start with custom hubs from one of the members here first i think, to rule that out. Total PITA job though.

Real PITA part for me is that this is a lease and I really don't want to dump $ into this issue. At the same time, I can't just take it to the dealer bc I put a lift on it

mine is grinding too only when I go slow and the wheel is turned. I had to have Discount tire grind down the brake caliper some because the rim is hitting the outside of the caliper. could that also be part of the issue?

I dont think so. I have 16s and the tolerances there are tight, but I have no indication on the inside of my wheel that theres any contact being made. I just ordered a set of custom packed hubs from 05taco4x4, and adjusted my caster from nearly 4* to 2.7*. Caster adjustment helped, but I'm afraid after a few weeks its degenerated once again. Shes starting to frustrate me that's for sure..

I'm led to believe my alignment was the most likely culprit. Starting with fresh hub bearings, we will see how it holds up. Also going to level and realign one last time. Fingers crossed.
