We were home. Ryan just opened the garage door to start working on the 85 runner when he told me to come outside. It was a massive brown poof in the sky. I had to explain it to my mom. Used this gif:

SC guys near Charleston and the surrounding area...

The spouse and I are seriously considering a move to the Charleston, SC area within the next 6 months possibly. While we visit the area every year, a few times a year...I can't say either of us have a decent grasp on the job market there. We are both law enforcement in NC currently...7 years and 14 years in. Having said that we aren't hell bent on being a sworn officer in SC at this time either. We both aren't opposed to working in a detention center or even civilian work for awhile until we decide whether to pursue LE there or not. I am an Army veteran and wondered what type of civilian work might be available on some of the military installations there as well.

If anyone on here could provide some insight to decent paying civilian jobs or even LE or on any of the military installations in the area that would be awesome to hear from some locals.

My stepdad was stationed in Charleston with the Navy when I was growing up so we lived there for about 3 years or so. I'm pretty familiar to a point with getting around. Any advice on decent places to live would be welcomed as well. We lived in North Charleston when I was growing up but can't say I want to live there again depending on the area. Summerville, Goose Creek or Moncks Corner is more my speed.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Eh, this isn't the Charleston you remember. It's overcrowded, pay is crap, market is nuts on housing, etc etc etc.

I guess I get a do-over now Baja Roof Rack, SOS Concepts Bed Bars, Tepui RTT,SOS Concepts Streamline, (mostly)Keeping it washed

DOC is severely understaffed here. The ratio of prisoners to staff is stupid and can lead to issues. IDK. I know some areas have a higher start rate out of the gate, but it has been so long since I have spoken to officers regularly that IDK which ones are good.

Make the move now before housing gets worse. Plenty of jobs to have. Government cops jobs on JB Charleston are cake. Naval Brig is huge and they probably have a few terrorists in there you can knock around. Commuting sucks so live where you can bob and weave when it rains and there are wrecks galore.

And please for the love of GOD don’t trade your Tacoma for a piece of shit Chevy or Ford or GMC.
