I know there was a thread in the past that has since been locked but is anyone still having trouble with the quality of @KBVoodoo powder coat, namely on the Hi-Rise crossbars? After already having the crossbars replaced for peeling powder coat, the uprights are now peeling as well. After emailing Chad twice, I finally got a response saying it is "not a warrantable issue" with no explanation or follow-up. Since when is the coating on a product not considered a defect? Especially since he has admitted it is a widespread issue and already replaced my crossbars?

I am still in my one year warranty period and this company is not honoring their warranty.

At this point the locked thread beat the topic to death and you’d be better off just painting your own shit or getting it repowdercoated. Imo powdercoat sucks for anything that sees regular use and that is my opinion after buying PC products from many different companies. My rattle-can duplicolored enamel wheels are holding up better than any of my powder coated shit.

I got the same response two years ago. Its kind of a lost cause at this point. Just repaint them yourself and avoid his products in the future.

I had one of the brackets have a weird spider web cracking of the powdercoating, and it was replaced. But I have had the peeling up of the edges just like you. I pulled it off and just rattle canned it. I figured it was a function of the powdercoating around sharp edges not playing well together.

I've resigned myself that periodic spray painting of the hi-rise brackets and even parts of the bars is a feature not a bug.

I don’t expect the coating to last forever but the rack isn’t cheap for what it is and I’ve had it for about 7 months. He honored the crossbars a few months back but not the uprights. There is no phone number listed on his site and he picks and chooses what emails he replies to.

That is unfortunate. It seems like it is very common for powdercoat to peel at the edges, that is one reason why I went with rattle can bedliner on my rock sliders, the fill plates have too many sharp edges.

I wish they were made out of Stainless Steel for the price you are paying. The type of metal using for the rails and other voodoo products are not as expensive.

Damn. That sucks to hear and see. I’ll probably steer clear of his products going forward since CS is so spotty.

None of this is new. There are multiple threads about his products not lasting as long as they should and the following customer service complaints. The only thing we can do is fix it ourselves and chalk it up to an loss
