For the camp trip my thought is to camp at the end of FR 42D where it dead ends at the north edge of the wilderness Preserve. Topo maps put it at 9000 elevation which should be good temps. I'm open to exploring and camping elsewhere if we run across some prime real estate. I just want to make sure we disperse camp away from the usual 5th wheel/rv asshats.

I've got a good loop planed out for the weekend. Thinking we start camp as soon as possible friday after work, barely into the USNF on Pine Canyon Road (not Pinery Canyon road...yes, different lol). We'd enter from AZ 181/ Pine Canyon rd intersection. Catch camp at the first place we see fit. Then I've got a route that takes Pine Canyon road to FR 42C, take FR42C to FR 42, Take FR 42 NW to FR 356, take FR356 loop all the way around and out toward Paradise road/turkey creek road on the east side outside the park. Just before we leave the park on FR356 we can go south on Jhus Canyon road (FR 341) and supposidly, according to Gaia, theres a waterfall along there. after that take Paradise/turkey creek road south back into the USNF at which point it turns into FR 42B. Take that to FR 42 and take that north to FR 42D at onion Saddle. Take 42D to its dead end which should be some (hopefully) good camping area at 9000ft.

All subject to change as we see fit, but I think that would be a good basis! If we wanted to go see the actual Chiricahua national monument (rock stacks), we'd have to leave the USNF saturday morning going west on Pinery Canyon road and catch the plebian pavement back east to the national monument. Then back track back out to Pinery Canyon, back down Pinery Canyon (FR42), and go from there once we are back in the NF. We could also side track to the ghost(ish) town of Portal to check it out, buy some lunch rather than cook it, etc. All up to you guys!

While I love wandering and making up plans as I/we go, I like to also have a basic route planned incase going with the flow doesn't pan out, or it gets to the point of too much time wasted constantly backtracking on deadend leads :p

Did some steep climbs on the 4th to see the difference. Had my traction boards and shovel ready but didn’t need them thanks to the new rubber.

FR 356 and Pine Canyon road both look 2 track on satelite so there should be some decent wheeling, it definitely won't be all groomed! And don't worry, I've got mucho spare nuts and bolts now :p

Many, many thanks for everyone who came out yesterday to take part with the new upgrade then taking me wheeling immediately after the install! Very special thanks to @trojanman18 for going all out and almost deleting his pinky finger in the process. Thank you! 20180707_115600.jpg

As much as I hate to say it, I think I have to pass on this one. I'm leaving the following Wednesday for my cousin's wedding in Boston. I'll be gone till Sunday. I'm thinking I should spend the time with my family. But if that changes I'll let you know
