I bought new ones from eBay oem. They stick on with sticky backing they come with. I tried the overlays but the ones I got didn’t cover well not sure why

I found a super cheap set on eBay for my truck. They come with everything like new. Just paint in multiple good coats and reapply. Very simple and relatively inexpensive.

I used fishing line. I parked my truck in the sun for a few hours to heat up the adhesive and also used painters tape to tape around all the straight edges so that I could line the emblem back up. I also made sure to use the tape to outline the T and A as perfectly as I could in order to use it as a landmark for re-applying. Once the adhesive was gooey enough, I put on a pair of mechanics gloves, cut a piece of fishing line and worked it in a sawing motion from one end to the other. The emblems are all one piece. I took each emblem and roughed them up a bit with sanding paper and removed as much adhesive from the back of the emblems as I could (PITA). I then placed them on some cardboard and used some Rust-Oleum (https://www.rustoleum.com/product-c...rmance-enamel-spray?ls=7579838&lc=Gloss Black) and applied a few coats. Cleaning the adhesive off the truck actually wasn't all that tough. It's hard to describe but in my experience once you get a bit of the adhesive to come off the truck and you can grip it, try and pull it horizontal to the truck versus directly away (if that makes sense). That method seems to keep it from snapped every few centimeters. Once removed, I used some rubbing alcohol and cleaned the area just to make sure it didn't have any residue left.

As for re-applying, I purchased some double-sided tape from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JR4D7AA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and cut pieces to length and applied.

A hair dryer (not a heat gun) works well for removal if you use it at about 4-6” away from the truck. Keep the hair dryer moving left to right, and along with fishing line or string you can have the emblems off in no time. The majority of the adhesive left behind can be heated and removed much easier with heat to start with. After that, use adhesive remover and some elbow grease. It’s really a very easy process that shouldn’t take more than a 1/2 hour for all emblems on the truck.

The sun will heat the emblems up some, but it can take a really long time and most times only one side of the truck is in direct sunlight.

I used a heat gun. But I kept my hand on the paint so I knew how hot it was.

I also used a plastic razor blade for the big parts of adhesive. Then bug and tar remover for the rest. I did use goo gone on the V6 badge prior too. The bug and tar was much easier.

Nice. Do the O’s and A’s have the cutouts in the letters? Like the middle parts of the O and A? If not, it’s still fine, but I like the emblems without the cutouts in black.

Pulled mine. Liked them off. Goofed around a painted them satin black and put them back on. The 3M taping on the back was a pain. 20180406_144700.jpg

I tried what you did also first. I even bought new tape and realized it was gonna be a PITA. That’s when I bought a cheap set on eBay, and painted them babies up. So glad I did it this way.
