Broken engine case, broken motor mounts would be the 1st thing i would check, then depends if you are going to tear it down and rebuild or ride it. I usually tear it down completely before I trust it, probably find some worn items on a bike that old, but I love 250r and banshees

If it has snorkel or snorkels, be ready for issues. But if you plan to go thru it completely you should be good.

People actually put snorkels on these?!? Definitely avoid!
Thanks for the suggestions so far!

A former coworker had two of them and had snorkels on both. I know he rode with a couple more that also had snorkels. They were the dumbest looking quads I've seen.

I would recommend the 87-89. The 86's had a short rod motor the power was on or off next to no power out of the power band. The 87-89's are easier to ride with the ability to lug around out of the power band. Cracked swing arm and cracked frame around the lower motor mounts and foot pegs. I had an 86 had friends with 87's and an 88.
