    Hello,

I'm a new Tacoma owner and new to the forum. I was thinking about getting a roof rack on my 2018 Tacoma Off Road to transport my very heavy fishing kayak. I have a couple questions as I continue my research and was hoping this forum could help:

    1. How much weight can the roof of a Tacoma handle with a roof rack and kayak mount installed? My fishing kayak is about 100 pounds and about 35 inches wide.

    2. My Tacoma does not have OEM rails - will installing roof racks compromise anything on the truck?

    Thank you!

    Field

Oem rack is rated to 100lbs , I used it the other day to haul a lighter tandem kayak, it was 70lbs. Held fine.
I think you'll be ok either way you go.

I have a prinsu rack and it can support at least a 200 lb man, sketchy but it can. Also my 44 lb kayak also fits on it20180707_124122[3523].jpg
