So last night we were out in the Lexus and rendered aid to a fellow Tacoma driver that was having a battery problem and couldn't start his truck. 20180706_213448~01.jpg
Low and behold, this morning my truck started, but just barely. Then at my first stop, no restart. Mine did the same thing as this guy's. WTF? Are the batteries that bad in these things? Toyota said 4 hour wait to get a battery replaced. It would be an hour for a shuttle ride.
I'm with my disabled daughter so that's a no go. Can't get ahold of ANYONE!!! So $200 later and telling the parts guy at AutoZone to look up 2016 Tacoma battery because no one stocks a part number for 2017s yet, I'm back on the road.

    Toyota. Quality is number 4.
Sorry for the rant, just ironic that I ran into this yesterday and today, and am still waiting on Toyota service to call me back about 2 other issues.

Mail your receipt to Toyota and you will get reimbursed for the cost of the Battery

Another premature dead battery. Dang. I spend way too much time away from home to worry about this. I was thinking I'd wait 3 years, but now. I'm wondering if I should do it earlier.

The address and instructions for reimbursement is in the Owners Manual, it basically says if it's after hours at the Dealership you can get it repaired elsewhere and send in the receipt

Wow, that is unsat. Do you live in a super-hot state? The battery in my 1st Gen lasted a decade.

Not sure they'll refund more than the value of an equivalent battery. Maybe?

I recently had a battery failure on my 6 yo '13. Could have been warrantied by the PO I suppose, but I've owned it about 5 years, so...........

Anyway, I found the correct Interstate battery at Costco for $93 cash & carry + core. 36 mo warranty, about as much as you get anymore.

Just something to keep in mind.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
Maybe it's not just 3rd gens? Battery on my 2015 taco TRD off road only lasted 2 years.

The battery in my 2015 Tacoma Pro just went out this month. I've had the truck almost 4 years and I've put almost 80, 000 miles on it. The replacement battery cost $100 at Sams for a Duracell brand.

They will refund I think it is $150/175 for replacement if you have to purchase a battery
