I did, but the fozzie is having some issues, and I literally can't pinpoint what they are.

So far i've done:

Plugs
oil
ATF fluid and filter
Cleaned the MAF
Cleaned the Throttle body
Tested the battery with and without accessories running

Symptoms:

When the car is hot or it is very hot outside, the car starts to stutter, almost like the transmission is slipping or something
No CEL, no codes
If I let the car sit then it drives fine for a while without any issue

Ideas:

Maybe add a tranny cooler inline to help reduce the heat?

 

I have no idea where to start. Maybe some sort of torque converter?

 

I have no idea, i'm trying to get it to a subaru specialist because I don't want to break what I just bought lol

Other than this issue, this car has been a ton of fun a rock solid!

cleaning the throttle body made an impressive difference on how smooth this thing drives, but again, once it gets really hot there's an issue

ATF is red still and doesn't smell burnt or anything.

 

Im going to get a pre-purchase inspection on Wednesday for mine lol. Im pretty sure it needs brakes. Getting an oil change too, even though the dipstick looks good. Ill do some other things later.

But I have 140 miles to 1/4 tank of gas. Its already saving me money!

 

that's awesome! my AWD going 70 for 50 miles one way i'm averaging about 200 miles to half tank, which is great because the truck was (old wheels and tires) 230 to empty, but even now it's 260 which is much less hahaha

 

More Fozzie Maintenance

Ok a little more details with part numbers.

803926090 - Front Differential Seal (also tranny seal on MT cars) - Torque is 51.6 Ft-Lbs
11126AA040 - ATF Drain Seal - Torque is 18.1 Ft-Lbs

Torque for rear diff plugs is 36.1 ft-lbs.. FSM specifies to use Three Bond 1105 on the threads, Permatex and 3M make equivalents that are easier to find and cheaper.

Front diff holds ~1.2 qts

$29 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75W-90
Rear diff holds ~0.8 qts 75W-90

Ignore my earlier 21mm socket comment, you need an 8mm Hex for your AT drain.
T70 is for front differential drain.
13mm Square is for rear diff drain and fill plugs.

You also need power steering lines if we're doing the rack, and I'd suggest a pump too. Either way, we'll flush the system and put in new fluid.

It's a solid day to do all that. Just pull the skids at home the night before

 

even that will be annoying, I need to cut the bolt since the weld nut in the cross member decided it didn't want to be attached anymore lol

I'll have to do the @Chux fix one day for that lol

 

There's an easy fix for that. Cut the bolt. Drill through the top of the cross member, and use a grade 8 bolt/nut. I did that on mine after I striped the weld nuts in the frame.

 

hahaha i tried to cut it with a hacksaw months ago and it was PITA so i gave up lol
