I know it's not a Taco, but I thought it was at first when I was behind it this afternoon. It's totally a 4Runner, but still... sad day!

The owner of this truck pulled into the parking lot of the bar where I work, and we got to talking...

I showed him the pictures of my Taco taken the day after the drunk guy hit it, and he told me what happened to his truck...

He wasn't paying attention while backing into a parking space and nailed the side of his truck on a lamppost...

    $5K in damage!

This has since been fixed, but it happened at the local Home Depot in Fall 2016. I was running an errand for Puck, specifically picking up patio heaters, and I backed my Taco up to the Home & Garden Center. I was looking at my backup camera and was so focused on making sure I didn't back into anything that I did keep a close enough eye on where the front of the truck was going. The end of a metal guardrail went into the space between the fender and the bumper...

This 2016 TRD Sport belongs to a sales rep from a food distributor we do business with. He bought the truck used less than a month prior to these pictures being taken, with just over 17K miles. He got rear-ended by a guy in a 2007 Acura TSX at 45+ MPH about a week before I took these pictures. He hadn't even made his first payment yet! The Taco needs a new rear bumper and new right rear fender. There is no frame damage and it is quite an easy fix.

The Acura, on the other hand, was totaled. The front end was totally destroyed, the airbags deployed, and the car was ten years old, so they totaled it...

This was my dads, hit a patch of black ice, spun out and hit a pole. He was able to get himself out, no injuries. He had a small scrape on his knee, about an inch because of the way dash crumpled on him. He went to work the next day lol.

It only had 6652km on it.

The body shop did an amazing job! I bought it off of him. :D

If so, sept 25th. Rear ended by a 2008 GMC Yukon. Oh, he was also uninsured.

Who drives such a nice vehicle without insurance? Do you have uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage?

Yes I do however, insurance being insurance since I made contact with the car in front of me at low speed and minimal damage the VA State Police defered us to hash it out between insurance companies and deemed it a “NRA or non reportable accident” the great commonwealth of VA has yet to file the accident report which cited the individual who hit me and caused the most damage. This means my insurance is holding me liable for the damages incurred so it doesn’t matter at this point what uninsured motorist coverage I carry because VA can’t get their shit together and process the accident report

BTW, VA State Police Officer RM. Verbeek badge number 8586, get your shit together!

I think Virginia is the only state (er, Commonwealth) that doesn't actually require liability insurance. You can pay a $500 fee and you won't get in trouble if you're caught driving without insurance, which makes it even worse for people like you and me. However, the uninsured motorist will be liable for any damages they cause...

More from my pre-Christmas visit with family in Norfolk, Virginia...

Spent the day hanging out with my cousin and I saw this in the parking lot of the light rail station...

It breaks my heart to see any Tacoma, especially a regular cab, in this condition...

It's even more heartbreaking when the regular cab is remarkably similar to my daily driver!

Damage doesn't appear to be so bad from this angle...
    SaturdayDecember23rd2017 001_edit.jpg

From the front, it appears to have hit a gaurdrail or the back of a tractor-trailer. We were rushing to catch the train when I took the first two pictures, and I failed to notice the damage to driver's door. One thing I just noticed now (when I posted this) is how the door frame seems to be bowed outward...

I took the third picture when we got back to the station after spending the day at Nauticus. You notice that the left door is significantly dented in (though again I did not notice that the door was "bowed out" at first). In my opinion, the owner hit a deer, the owner is more than likely waiting for their insurance company to complete their assessment, and the truck will probably be fixed...
    SaturdayDecember23rd2017 004_edit.jpg

I've seen plenty of 5-lug 2nd Gen RCs that have been ridden hard and put away wet, and just in general have the ever-lovin' shit beat out of 'em. I did not get close enough to this truck to narrow down the year, but I can tell you by looking at the grill that it is older than 2011. I can also tell by looking at this truck that it was probably in above average condition prior to the accident...

Not a Tacoma, or even an actual wreck, but...

This 1994ish T4R was one of two or three dozen vehicles crushed by a monster truck at the Fall 2017 Raceway Park swap meet and car show! This T4R appears to have been largely intact at the time it was crushed, so I'm guessing it either (A) had a rusted out frame (or unseen body rust) and most of the good parts were spoken for, or (B) it was was submerged during Superstorm Sandy back in 2012 (Not likely since the emissions test sticker in the lower left corner of the windshield expired in 2015)...
